I have a 15" MBP (2.16 C2D) that's about 11 months old. It has been in a Spec acrylic shell since day one. Also has 3M film on LCD, trackpad/clicker film, with three extra sets, Marware palmrest protection, black iSkin keyboard protector (again, all protective gear on since day-one). Have upgraded to a full 2GB of RAM. Also comes with a custom aluminum iLap cooling stand. There is very little of this 'book exposed to the world and less still actually used (I use an external keyboard, mouse, display).
Problem is, I virtually never take it anywhere. So, seems I'm paying for portability that I don't use. I think that an iMac (or possibly a mini/display combo) would better meet my needs. I'd like to set up a straight trade for an aluminum iMac, say 2.4+ C2D, 24", nicely spec-ed. Of course, willing to accept a simple cash transaction. Given, the specs and the extras, I'm thinking that $1700 is about what it's worth (well, if ebay is any measure).
Can post/send pics if anyone's interested. Possibly willing to purchase the Apple Care as a way of sweetening the deal (especially since I'd be purchasing that anyway, should I keep the MBP).
