Hi all,
I have a great system for sale. This system has served
me well, but I am ready to pass it on to a worthy mac
user. I am a college student and need to go mobile.
Here are the spec's
Power Mac 8500/120
Railgun G3/275 (overclocked to 350Mhz) with a full 1MB
backside cache (makes a BIG difference)
176mb ram
Stock Quad speed Apple CD drive.
Internal SCSI Zip drive.
Stock Floppy Drive
2gb AV capable SCSI2 HD.
Apple Keyboard and Mouse.
****Now Some Extras****
3DFX Voodoo3 2000 GFX card w/16mb vram
XRL8 Dual Port USB PCI card.
TurboMax ATA/33 PCI IDE controler.
****Other Stuff****
Yamaha 6416s 6x4x16 CD-RW (optional)
15 inch Optiquest Monitor.
17 inch Viewsonic E771 Monitor.
Epson Stylus Color 800 Color Printer.
Cambridge Soundworks Speakers w/subwoofer.
This is a dual monitor system. The onboard video
powers the Optiquest Monitor and the Voodoo3 powers
the larger Viewsonic. The Voodoo3 is currently the best
graphics card you can get for Mac gaming. I get 30+ fps
in Quake 3, Unreal and Unreal Tournament even at
1024X768 resolution. The USB card gives you access
to the newer mice/trackballs/scanner/videocameras
etc. The TurboMax allows you to connect up to 4 IDE
Hard drives and you can even make a raid array with it.
Overall the 8500 is a great system. It has AV
capabilities with RCA and S-Video in and out. You can
even connect a VCR with a TV tuner and watch
TV/Cable/VHS and dvd if you wanted to. (never tried
that, but it would work.) Not much more I can say. The
two 64mb Dimms, zip drive, TurboMax, Voodoo3, and
USB card are all less than 3 months old. The
Processor upgrade card has been overclocked since
the day after I bought it and has been stable as a rock
the entire time. I'm an apple tech support technician
and have taken good care of this system and I'm sure it
will be a great system for its new owner. It's currently
running OS 9.0.4 with USB/3dfx/Epson drivers and has
not crashed in at least 3 weeks. ;-) (See! OS 9 is
stable if you know what your doing!) I've got the original
box for the turbomax, Voodoo3, and large Viewsonic
monitor. I will either pack the rest myself or take it down
to Mailboxes etc or something if the buyer would rather.
Entire thing for $1500, or I will talk about piecing the
system out, but It should really all go together...
I will be happy to answer any questions anyone has.

I'm sorry but you are asking way too much for a poor old 601 Processor. Even with a big supercharger 63/275 to aid you, a G4 at $1300 is always a bigger bang for the buck!

Correction: The 8500 came with a PPC604 and not a PPC601. The 8100 came with PPC601 processors.
And the bigger bang for the buck is assuming you have a box that can accomodate the RailGun upgrade. Mr Schaeffer is not only selling the box and the upgrade, but a host of other upgrades.
If I were in the market I would seriously consider it.

Yes, it was originally a 604. When I bought the G3 I gave the original procesor and L2 cache away for the cost of shipping. (The cheap bastard didnt even reimburse me.) Its now running with the G3 at 350Mhz /1mb backside cache. I realize you can get a G4 for 1500 dollars, but you cannot get a 350 g4 with 176mb ram, dual monitors, zip, floppy, AV in/out and a printer.
