ok a friend of mine has a power mac that he wants to sell, only he has no idea what it's worth, and not being familliar with apple pc's I also have no idea either.
It's a Power Mac 8600/250
17" Apple vision monitor
128 MB RAM 2X64MB sticks
4gig internal HDD
9gig external HDD
cd-rom
1.44 floppy
External Hayes Accura 288 message modem
scsi card
Mac Operating system 8.6
Processor = powerpc 604ev/ 250mhz
built in FPU ( <---don't know what this is )

Can someone give us a rough valuation and perhaps an idea on how to pitch it ( this last point is important because he is not computer literate and he needs to be able to explain what it is without all the technical jargon )

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

If the monitor is .28 or .26 - I would say $850-900
Without monitor I woud say $675-725

Given that you can get an iMac (which can run later 9.1 and 10.0) I think the previous guesstimate is a wee bit high. The external drives are nice, but really cheap these days.

I'd ask for $800 and settle for $500.

thanx for your reply guys, but as I know very little about this system I need to know what aspects I can use as selling points. ie upgradeability, can this system be upgraded? and if so to what extent?

My biggest concern is that potential buyers will ask me technical questions that I simply can't answer. I just dont want to under sell myself. But I want to be able to sell at a reasonable/realistic price.

How would you advertise this and at what price?

Thanks for all your help, I'm realy grateful.
