Choke,

That was sure a nice machine in it's day, and is still useful for many computing needs. Unfortunately, it doesn't run OS X very well (due to the low bus speed), which makes it less appealing for people who are looking to buy a computer and keep it around for awhile. Also, many of the new games that are coming out require faster G3's and/or a better video card.

However, on a positive note, your G3 is very upgradeable in both memory, video cards, and processors.

On ebay, these computers usually go for around $400, sometimes more, sometimes less. That would be your best place to sell it.

If you are looking to sell your computer to a good Mac home, I'll ask my brother how much he'd be willing to pay for it. He's still using a Performa 6360 and it would seem like a huge speed boost for him to jump to a G3. However he is kind of a cheapskate, and I'm guessing he would only offer around $250.

Anyway, good luck selling it.

Choke,

He gets off of work around 5:30 central time. I'll call him up and run it by him. That is a very good price and he should be shot if he doesn't take it.

Thanks,

lw

Choke,

I talked to my brother, and he is definitely interested. Here's my email address. Please email me, and I will give you his email address, phone #, etc. I didn't know this, but he's out of the state right now (lives in Missouri, and he's on his way back from Oklahoma). It may be until tomorrow night until he can give you an answer (says he has to check in with his wife before he says he'll buy it.....go figure).

Thanks,

lw

Ok, you have to remember that I'm a poor review writer that doesn't get paid.

Someone is taking back the computer they lent me (long story), this sweet little red iMac... anyway. I can't afford a lump sum of $250. I am willing to trade (just to lower the price) 32 MB of iMac/iBook (clamshell), 6 SuSE linux CDs... AND 4th Dimension (worth about $700 retail as it is the whole product line). Or I could pay in installments. Better yet, can you take credit card (PayPal)? I would like to pay $200. Does it have a Rage Pro or Rage II card?

It has 9.2.2 and no usb ports, one can easily add usb via PCI for bout 15.00 to 20.00.

thanks for your interest.

I wonder how much faster it'd be than my PM 8100 with external 33.6 modem and 4 Mb Video card? I use it mainly for the internet (dial up)................

Chokes computer is well worth $300+, and if I were him, I wouldn't sell it for a dime less. Mattstoton, I completely sympathize with your desire to find a usable G3 system at a bargain price, but you shouldn't keep trying to barter with him, especially when he just told you $275. Give the guy a break. In my opinion (which I admit is worth a plug nickle at best), for the price you and others (including my brother and myself) are offering him, he may as well give it to a family member. As a matter of fact, didn't you just buy a G3 for $150?? Here's the thread:

Choke, I know you don't like eBay, but I think you'd make a lot more money selling it there.

Good luck either way.
