I've got a iBook 500 mhz for sale. It's got a 10gb Hard Drive, 384 mb RAM (128+256), DVD/CD-RW combo drive, all disks, brand new power adapter and some "bonus" [ :-)] software if you want it. Currently running OS X.1.5, no OS 9, but I can re-install it for you. Beautiful screen, no dead pixels, battery is in great condition. Asking $1150 plus shipping.

Ok, couple of things. "Bonus" software doesn't add any value to your iBook. Hey look, I'm cool cause I pirate software...neat, but it doesn't add anything. Also, your price might be a bit optimistic for a 500MHz machine. eBay rates are from $750-$950 with the amount of RAM yours has and the combo drive. Last, how are you running OSX 10.1.5 when it hasn't been released yet? {see pirate comment above}

Good luck on making a sale. I'll offer $500...
Yeah, about those TPS reports, didn't you get the memo?

Yeah.

You will have to drop the price ALOT. I have a 500 for sale/trade a bit farther down the thread listing, and I have had to drop the price considerably.

iBook 500/DVD/640MB or RAM/30GB/AppleCare through 2004.

First of all, I saw your previous posts Malson on someone else's ibook sale. Second of all, mine has no flaws, new casing, new track pad, $50 in extra RAM and am selling for $350 less than I bought it. Second of all, having a preview of free software (10.1.5) is not pirating. The other software...maybe. They don't have to use it, some of it is Beta, some preview, etc.
Now, I don't appreciate you coming in and trying to f@@k up my sale. Yo've done it before to others and I'd appreciate if you wouldn't do it here (too late).
And finally, get a job and offer more than $500 for anything! (Powermac dual 1ghz? It sucks! I'll give you $500!) Geez....

Oh yeah, I'm also throwing in my airport card, so it's a iBook 500/384/10gb/Combo/Airport for $1150.

it's an attractive package (though I don't need your 'bonus' software ) but priced a bit high. I'm interested, certainly above $500 but below $1150. I'll have to wait and see how the other ibook sales look and then run through their numbers and features. thanks.

Do you have plans to post it on ebay?

Yep, I'm out of Denver. I think the keyboard on this is new as well. I just got it back from Apple yesterday (I messed up the trackpad rubbing some finger oil out of it...rubbed a little too hard) and had it sent in for repairs. They replaced the whole lower case, buffed out a few scratches in the top cover. I'd swear that the keyboard is new, as well. It seems snappier when pressing the keys. Hmmmmm... As far as price, I see it as getting $1650 of computer for $1150, which is much less than the actual "value" of the computer. I couldn't see the $500 difference between this unit and the new iBook. In fact, I wouldn't be selling this if I hadn't gotten such a great deal on a Gigabit/667/512mb/30gb/DVD refurbed powerbook g4. I almost don't want to sell this iBook but the wife is making me! It could be my second laptop for special occasions, but she's not hearing it! Anyway, email me at mrgaskell@msn.com if you're interested.

I'm certainly not trying to mess with your sale. You're doing that well enough on your own. Just don't try to come in here and overcharge for the machine you're selling. I understand that you're taking a loss, but all computer hardware depreciates the second you unwrap it. That's life. Now, since you say you saw my previous posts in PowerMacMan's thread, you obviously don't understand humor. You'd be nuts to take an offer of $500. I already have more than enough machines here without purchasing yours. I was simply illustrating my point that it was overpriced.

Go and get a job? Got one...thanks. And school, and a second job, and planning a wedding, etc. My hands are full, not necessarily of money, but full nonetheless. Now, I'll accept your apologies once you find your sense of humor and levity. Best of luck with the sale.

thanks for the reply. unfortunately, the value isn't the $1650 you mention, since that amount plus $100 gets one a

700 MHz G3 processor
Faster bus
Combo drive
384 RAM (Apple RAM, which is expensive anyway)
20 GB HD
Airport card.
Radeon graphics card

I know how hard it is to sell below what you paid or what you think should be the going rate--I tried that with my powerbook--but your ibook is now on the very low spectrum w/ its 500 Mhz G3, ati rage graphics chip, and 10 gig drive. I'm with you on trying to get as much as you can--after all, you're the seller--but even $1150 is too much. From browsing here and on ebay, I think folks might pay $750-900. Most of Ebay's 500 combo iBooks have no bids when the starting price is above $1000. The 600 models with lots of RAM and hardware extras are going for (and above) what you're asking.

I hope you can find a seller. If not, and you're still interested, I can pay $650. You can IM or reply here. Best regards and good luck!
