Well, There have been scams on the internet selling PowerBooks. These sales are usually "Too Good to be true" sales.

Because of that, I'd have a lot of reservations to this sale.

I was afraid of that, thanks Snowman. can anyone give me any advice, a way to make it obvious that this is legit? This is no lie. I know I need to post pictures, I'm doing that tonight. I'd be willing to contact serious individuals and give all my information, whatever. I really want to sell this. What can I do to get rid of people's fears.

Just let people know they have the choice of which way to pay. Usually these scams were through only being able to pay by Western Union or Pay Pal ... I'm sure eBay is a more legit way of selling an item than other auctions that were used for the scam. I guess in the end it's the amount of freedom and choice you offer to the purchaser that makes them feel at ease.

It just comes out odd that one would sell that new software along with the PowerBook for the price of just the powerbook or software.

It looks like an interesting offer, but I think my finances will be poured into other endevours in the short term.

good luck

I'm not sure what you can do to guarantee that you are legit. I agree that calling the people who are interested is a good first step. Perhaps you can use a escrow service and agree to pay all fees. That would convince me you were legit.

Now, lemme get off topic for a minute. I seem to recall that you are an Apple employee/contractor/something. At least you bought the TiBook at the employee rate, correct? If that's the case, the software you're offering is a bit shady. Adding $2000 worth of software and charging $1000 for them is "interesting" to say the least. I don't doubt your honesty, just question your methods.
Yeah, about those TPS reports, didn't you get the memo?

Malson-

To answer your question, yes I was 'affiliated' with Apple in the recent past and did get the PowerBook at a discount (not as much as most would think I wager). I am not selling the PowerBook for more than I paid, especialy when you factor in the base station, card, and power adapter. As for the software, I got the 2 boxed versions indirectly as a 'gift', not apple, but I already have both, thus they are still un-opened. I think the bottom line is, it really is nobody's business how I came about the powerbook/software. I have the documentation to prove I bought the PowerBook, and would be happy to provide if requseted without hesitation. The point is that I did so under legit circumstances, I am throwing in the 2 boxed software packages, and it boils down to "either it's a good deal for the person, or it is not". I know you are not doubting my honesty as you said. I just wanted to be clear on my 'upright-ness". Not sure what you were sugesting.

As far as dispelling people's fears about scams, I am only accepting payment through eBays system, which I understand to be helpful in avoiding scams. They have my account info, so If I scam someone, they charge me. Thanks for the input however, as it is helpful. I have little experience selling online.

I very curious, I have had verry little response to this post. I expected to generate more interest. Is this not a good deal? Malson, I fear you may have ruined this attempt to sell my Titanium with your post. I know there are a lot of scams out there, but you hinted at something ("...doubt your meathods"). just an FYI, if you are going to make a statement like that, please have the balls to actually explain. I'm not saying your comments are definitely the reason I have had little response to my ad, but I am saying it was a bit judgemental with no attempt to back up or explain yourself. If anybody knows why the lack of interest, please let me know. Maybe there are just not very many people currently looking for a Titanium AND DVD Studio Pro & Final Cut at the same time?? Or they are just fearful of scams. I'm sticking payment to ebays "Billpoint" system, hoped that would put off peoples reservations? Who knows. Malson, a reply would be nice since you don't allow personal messages.

I'm guessing, the thing being is people may want the PowerBook more than the software. I'd be more interested in paying $1500 for the Ti than $2500 for the Ti and software. Maybe some have the software, maybe some don't want it ... and most would probably not need DVDSP, since there is no DVD burner.

When I look at what I can get for $2500 in a Ti, I can get the 667Ti.

I like the 32MB Radeon (not to mention higher screen resolution), Combo drive and larger cache and faster system bus.

I personally am not interested in the Airport stuff ... so then maybe this deal isn't for me. But a choice of the 2, I'd pick the *new* Ti with a warranty for the same price. But again, that's me. A $1500 Ti on it's own without the software would be more what I'd look for.

thanks snowman, I too thought that may be the case. If it does not sell, I'll probbly split them up. I have a EXQuest FW DVD burner that I use with the Ti, which is why the lack of a DVD burner in the Ti didn't strike me. JTC, as for the COD option, I'd have no problem with that, other than I have fears of being scamed myself but I guess the person could not take position if they did not pay. I'll look into it.

thanks!

Don't try to accuse me of screwing up your sale. Your first thread with the powerbook for $1500 and no software didn't get very many responses at all. So, I don't understand why your shocked when you add 2 professional level software products and raise the price $1000 you still don't get many responses! WTF? What are people thinking?

Geez, most people that need a system like this have the resources to purchase it outright/new. Just because you feel like this is a great deal (and personally, it is a good deal, just FYI), doesn't mean it's going to sell like hotcakes. Watch your accusations from this point forward. Try selling everything separately. In the PC world you would hear the chants of *part it out! part it out!* That might be your best bet.

EDIT: I was just rereading messages and noticed "A reply would be nice since you don't accept personal messages" Did something change with the upgrade? As far as I know, I can receive private messages. I haven't changed any of my prefs. I'll check my profile again, but I'm pretty sure I can receive messages...

malson, I can understand if you thought that I was accusing you of hurting my sale, I sort implied that, but I did explain that what I was really after was what you specifically meant with the "meathods" comment. You explained yourself, and I appreciate that. I meant to be matter of fact, and I think I cam off disrespectful. Sorry. Bottom line is that after reading your explination, I totally see your point. Good deal/bad deal, doesn't matter- the point is finding someone who want both is slim. I'm going to take your advice, see if I get a sale. If not, I'll piece it out. I definitely have NO experience selling online, so the feedback is appreciated. Again, I didn't intend on leveling accusations. Sorry if it came off that way. I can be grumpy

This may just be me, but if I was selling an entire package deal and had the means to put pictures on the net I'd have pictures of everything together, boxed software, Airport, Machine, etc. This to me seems a little off. Why would you advertise a base station, and 2 Professional programs new in the box but simply "forget" to take pictures of them ? Don't blame me now for the lack of intrest in your product, I'm just wondering where the other items in your deal are..

anim8ing, at the risk of sounding thin skinned, alluding to the idea that I would blame you for the "lack of interest" for simply giving me some advice ,makes you look silly. There is NO comparison between you and Malson. You explained yourself, GET IT?. I agree, the fact of the matter is I did not have the FCP & DVD SP at the same location as the TiBook, and I just wanted to get the pictures up asap, as ALL the emails I got asked about the condition of the Ti. I'll be posting new pictures very soon.

?

I'm wondering why you are comparing me with Malson? I was simply saying that you need to have pics of everything together if possible. Also your saying "I got the 2 boxed versions indirectly as a 'gift'" is a litte off. I'm not going to ask where you got the software, but hey it's you conscience not mine.

I'm gonna have to say that there are a lot of d**ks on this site! When I tried to sell my PowerBook, the same crap happened to me as well! What gives? What is your deal Malson? Is this what you do for fun, troll seller ads and f 'em up? Geez.....Fortunately, karma is a beautiful thing.
