I checked out this deal a couple of weeks ago when it first came out and it turns out that the iMacs at Value America have been there a while, they all come with Mac OS 8.5.

If I remember from earlier, it was on these boards that people were reporting problems with the earliest versions of the new iMac DV's and it appears that those are what Value America is selling. Maybe they got a close-out deal from Apple.

I don't know but I love my new DVSE that came with OS 9.0.

What I really want is OS X, so 8.5 vs. 9.0 doesn't matter that much to me. Bad hardware, on the other hand, is a concern. But I didn't see this note until after I had ordered. I'll let y'all know when the computer (and rebates) arrive.

I got this bundle about a month ago for $60 more. It included OS9.

Ken- Glad to hear yours had OS 9.
I hope everyone understands that I was just relating what was told to me when I called Value America myself.
Good luck, I love to hear about people getting great deals on Macs.

Has anyone ordered the iMac DV SE with printer and scanner package from Value America within the last two weeks?

If so, did OS 9 ship with it? Their web site still indicates OS 8.5

Also, how long did it take to receive it? I need it by the US tax deadline.

I ordered on March 7, got the scanner on March 10, and the computer and printer on March 15. The receipt comes via US Mail (I did call customer service) a few days later. I've copied and mailed for the rebates.

The Lime iMac came with OS9. I added 128MBs. Don't load UMAX's control strip module. It locks up the machine. I'm waiting impatiently for OS X, and firewire CD-RW, and more disk space, and .... now I'm broke.
