I'm thinking of parting out my iBook. The ribbon cable that connects the hard drive and CD-ROM is snapped, so I figure I could just part it out and get a little bit of extra money that way.

How much are these things worth? (And if you wanna buy any of them, privmsg me) I'm putting the prices listed on pbparts.com after them, for some kind of comparison (if they are listed).

Did you check to see if you could get a new ribbon cable? I'm not too familiar with the internals of the iBook but how did this thing get snapped? Surely Apple or SmallDog, or even pbparts.com carries these cables. Seems to be a waste of an iBook if the part can't be replaced... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />
Yeah, about those TPS reports, didn't you get the memo?

Well, actually I'm hoping to replace it with a Tibook 667.

If you're referring to the regular ribbon cable, I'm sure that would be extremely easy to fix. AFAIK that would not a be proprietary part, but just a generic ribbon cable.

I'm supposing that your motivation is you're looking to get more cash this way than if you sold it complete. That's fine, and you may very well get more, but what happens when you sell of half of your stuff and then can't sell the rest?? I think you may be best off fixing it and then selling it.
