The subject says it all. This card is < 1 day old and in perfect working order. Looking for someone willing to swap for their Cube nVidia GeForce MX2 video card.

Interested? Post back here.

SpeedRacer, I might be interested, but if we swap, what do I do for a video card in the interum? I saw, and replied to your post in the G4 forum. I have a GFMX2 card in my G4/533. I believe you said your ATI Radeon was the ADC version, with a fan? The card in my G4 is 2 months old.

Well it looks like the first thing to do is find out if the GFMX2 card is the same in the Towers and the Cube. Any ideas where to find that out?

Found this on ATI's site: http://www.ati.com/na/pages/faq/mac/...mac_faq.html#5

Q8: Will the RADEON™ MAC EDITION boards fit the G4 CUBE?
A8: While there is a RADEON™ based board available for order in Apple's CTO (configure to order) program for Power Macintosh® G4 CUBE, this card is dimensionally different from retail versions. The retail version of RADEON™ MAC EDITION will not fit the Power Macintosh® G4 CUBE.

So the ATI board in the Cube is physically smaller than the G4 ATI board. So I'm assuming the nVidia card in my G4 might be too big to fit in the Cube. I guess the only sure way to check, is to measure the actual cards.

Bugs -

Yes. I'm quite aware of how the Cube Radeon is a bit shorter and runs on a fan versus the retail/Tower Radeon that is 7" and uses a heatsink. Easy to confirm with the availability of 2 different Radeon kits on the AppleStore as well. Unfortunately there is no "GeForce" kit available to compare the the possibility of 2 distinct nVidia cards either. Looked on nVidia's site and no info there either.

Speed! I'll trade you. I'm expecting for my NEW Cube to arrive any day now. It came with the nVidia but I'd rather have the Radeon.

If you're still interested in a trade, I'd love to accomodate ya. I bought a Radeon off of eBay for $100 but then I found out it's too big.

Sorry Folks -

After swapping out the Radeon's fan with the TennMax lasagne cooler for the Cube i'm now running a totally silent, fan-cooled Cube w/Radeon graphics. The best of both worlds! Not terribly difficult a job either.

Sorry OP! When you *do* get your Radeon i'm sure you'll have no problem unloading the GeForce as they are not even sold separately for the Cube. And you'll *definitely* be impressed with the graphics. Just post back with comparison tests before you let it go!

I know the performance results with the GeForce, I used to have one in a G4 before I sold it. Unless you're running MacOS X, there's no point in having it. It's just terrible under MacOS 8.x/9.x.

Apple does sell the Radeon for the Cube seperately, however, I don't want to spend ANOTHER $200.

But if the Radeon is that noisy, I'll hafta remember "TennMax lasagne." Maybe I'll make the modification later on.
