Note this is from the person I bought it from (NeXT dealer)
"Hear would be my thought, not often would anyone look at any computer as an investment, NeXT Computers are becoming Ultra Rare as only 50000 were made and a few with serial numbers higher than 50000 especially yours.
I would recommend hanging on to your particular system , if you can
afford to . You should if possible put it into storage for 10 years. The
reason are many, I think that NeXT Computers will become more
collectable over time.
I'm particularly interested in the cover as I recall it was actually
used in a top secret environment, you should preserve the Top Secret sticker."
Anyone care to offer a monetary sum knowing this now?
-Zac

I really don't see how it's worth more than the 100 or so bucks it costs for the case. Sorry. Outdated computer, dead platform. Take what you get and count yourself lucky. Or just keep it. Everyone in the world, except maybe you and Steve Jobs, understands that computer values approach zero at an ever increasing rate as they age.

I am sorry sir but you do not understand the value for this, I am not divulging what I know for a fact it's worth but it's over $500 Dead platform? Hello... UNIX isn't a dead platform, the computer is fast and can even have ram upgraded further, plus it can be hooked up to a network.
Sorry sir, your information is wrong, it's worth a lot more then $100

You can ask, but it ain't worth it. Tak a look at eBay, where they've been selling complete with monitor for about 150-250. UNIX ain't dead, but no one in their right mind is gonna buy a next-cube for unix when they can get a current machine that'll run circles around it. The can even find NeXT software for Intel based machines. Who's going to service and repair that NeXT Cube when age takes its toll? Like I said, dead company, dead platform. Unix too has moved on, and is rapidly leaving NeXT behind. If were so great, you'd keep using the machine.
Your vaunted serial numbers don't mean anything. This is a speculator's game of chicken with pyramid like consequences at the end. It's only worth something cause some idiot is going to value it higher than the last guy, but it inevitably falls apart and someone gets stuck paying to much for something that was never worth it in the first place. As far as NeXT cubes go, that point is easily reached at the cost of magnesium chassis.
NOT worth more than that.

Excuse me sir but I take offence to just about everything you have said. You have verbally attacked me without warrent, just leave me in peace to sell my item w/out harrassment.
Also
" If were so great, you'd keep using the machine."
Please do not tell me what the would and wouldn't do... the reason I am not using it for YOUR INFORMATION is because I just do not have enough time, I love my machine but I just don't have enough time.... ok so please do not put words in my mouth.

Wanna sell without criticism? Buy an add in the paper. This is a forum. You say it's worth it, and I say it's not. Both are free to post. Everyone and anyone who reads this can form their own opinions and comment accordingly.
good luck.

I agree yet your comments can discourage people, I think that people should email me and make their own descision, it is a private sell eventhough it is in a public forum

Nice, that quote came from the person I bought it from and who also is a NeXT dealer. Very cool to see someone else has one.

you seem to reply to his statements enough to make them valid. maybe you should have just posted a link to an ebay auction and left it at that.

Rob Blessin at Blackhole is out of his mind. His hardware is insanely overvalued, and shouldn't be taken seriously.
I'd like to have a TurboColor, but when I looked at NXBench scores for it, vs. even a Pentium 233, it's pretty sad. Nothing like Black hardware, don't get me wrong, but still. It's nice to have OPENSTEP scream versus crawl..

Listen, instead of having people make you offers and you scoffing at them, why don't you post what you think is a fair price and see if anyone wants to buy it? As much as it sucks, it's the market the determines the prices of products. A NeXT dealer might have told you it's work $1,000, but if no one wants to pay more than $25 for it, your box is worth $25.
Post a price and I might be interested.

About 2 months ago, I could get everything you're selling, plus a little more for about $15.
It's like saying Mac Plus's are so great and valuable because it has Mac OS on it. News to you, but I can buy a Mac Plus for 25 cents in a working condition with keyboard, mouse, external cdrom, the works.
sorry that you got ripped off by that dealer...
