I recently bought a powerbook g3 lombard 333 mhz (don't give a **** if it's not the newest. it's a mac!) I sold my last mac three years ago and only worked on pc's since. But OSX and just that warm fuzzy feeling of dicking around with my mac icons made the difference. I have yellowdog linux up and running and it's qiute a bit faster than on my work 475mhzP3 intel. Now, since I'm late at this I have a question:
Will anybody sell me an origional OSX PB CD? I'll pay the full price and and the shipping. I need to get up and runnig in this OS as soon as possible.......whine...beg...plead.

I'm not too learned in the intricacies of intellectual property law, but if you sell the original CD and everything that came with it, isn't that basically transferring ownership of the liscense and thus right to use the software to the buyer? My thoughts are that if you don't see copies, or the original for a profit then it would be okay. Again, i don't know the law, but this seems logical (those last 4 words have probably caused a lot of people big headaches : ).

I don't know if you want to do that... I think the software expires... or is it the license expires...

My word of advice, don't clutter up your machine until OSX final is out...

In reply to your posts:
Thanks for being so prompt.
firstly in replay to the question about cluttering up my drive, it's like this(if you think I'm following a strange path, please tell me),I'm a web developer (DHTML,PHP,MySQL,APACHE) who's just lost his job (dying dotcom letting everybody go), I'm 36 and don't have "years of experience" on my resume(spent a lot of years travelling around),crippled(two artificial hips) and I'm basically **** scared I won't find a job soon and so I'm learning java like mad to get ahead and do the Sun Certified Java Programmer Certification in June or July. Normally (I'm not normal) I would do this on an intel box. But I do a fair amount of java coding on my Mac and that's where I want to stay. MacOS9 doesn't and won't have jdk1.3 support and OSX does already and it's very well integrated. I need to migrate soon so as not too lose time and can't afford to wait till the oficial release comes out at the end of March.

To mindwaves:
As far as I know this is legal(I will definitely be buying the official release, have already ordered it in fact). How should we do this best?
Theo

I don't know why anyone would bother with the publc beta now. The final is just around the corner and as stated above the PB does expire. But to each his own.

I'm going to move this over to Buy/Sell forum. Click through to find the topic.

Dunno what you want to do with Java, but from what I've seen none of the browsers running in Carbon or Cocoa have any Java support (ie OmniWeb or IE 5.x).
