The Moral of this story is don't buy RAM from Coast to Coast Memory (also known as 1-800-4memory)!

With the price of RAM coming down I was looking for more RAM for my PowerBook G3 (13.3", 250 mhz)I finally settled on a company based on their price (big mistake there!)

I placed the order online and paid extra for Overnight FedEx. Five days later I get my RAM which was the wrong kind and almost fried my PowerBook. So I call them and they tell me to go to the website and fill out the RMA form and send it back, which I do by FedEx two day. It's now two weeks later and they are finally going to send the correct RAM (I hope) but by standard mail.

I just wanted to warn others to stay away from a vendor that doesn't know Mac memory and has poor service.

thanks for the info.
can never have enough info about crappy retailers.

i just got in on that onvia deal.. got 128MB of ram, after i get my rebate i'll have paid ~ $42 with shipping!!!

my experience is that the best place to buy ram (and usually the cheapest too) can be found at www.macresource.com, then click on the RAMWATCH link at the bottom.

i ordered ram from one of the listed vendors and am totally satisfied. overnight delivery was, overnight.

I bought some memory from RAMJET www.ramjet.com (I think) and was very satisfied. They know what they are talking about and the prices are good.

kpauley - I have never ordered from 1-800-4MEMORY but thank you for the warning. I have always had nothing but good experiences with The Chip Merchant, OnVia.com, and my personal favorite Crucial.com. I prefer Crucial.com because of several different factors. Namely they manufacture high quality Micron brand RAM, their prices if you order online are very competitive and normal shipping is only $5.

mike one - That MacDeals! 128MB RAM for $42 was a nice deal wasn't it? Sure does beat the $72 I paid at BuyComp.com

I have purchased RAM from Coast to Coast Memory (also known as 1-800-4memory) many times in the past and I have yet to have a problem with any aspect of my transactions. My two most recent purchases have been for my Pismo. I bought a 256 (2-2-2 speed) upper slot chip, the the next week ordered a 256MB (2-2-2 speed) lower slot chip. Both orders were filled correctly and shipped FedEx overnight. Sorry to hear of your misfortunes, but my experiences with Coast to Coast have been very pleasing.
