Hey everyone. I'm still contemplating either
A. Upgrading my rev D iMac....
or
B. Getting a G4 and using my iMac as a moniter. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. My question is this, I see the macmall ads for G4s, but is there anyway to get them cheaper????

You cannot use an iMac as a monitor for another computer. (Well, not without some major soldering anyway.)

Are you kidding? Buy yourself another iMac. You have internet access and could answer your own question. It is lazy people like you that bring down the whole internet. You have a world of knowledge at your fingertips! Learn to use that poor computer that you want to turn into a monitor! You are truly an imac user! Skip the G4-It's probably too much computer for you anyway. Hint: Use a search engine.

Ok ass, I've searched Ebay for used ones, checked all the mac outlets, and still. Hot DAMN are G4s pricey. I was just wondering if anyone know about any special prices, damaged cases, wahtever. ANYTHING to lower the price.

its pretty much impossible to get a "good deal" on a brand new machine like the G4. Plus, i would say use the iMac for now (333 is plenty fast) and when you can afford a G4 (when prices go down, or your savings go up), get one, and a nice monitor... but for gods sake, dont use the iMac as a monitor! First, a 15" on a G4?! plus, Its not worth the 300 someodd dollars for a monitor, to have your iMac sit braindead. Use the iMac as a server, or sell it... if u sell it u can easily get some cash for a nice screen!

Ca$h68 - Without providing more detail as to how you intend on using your Mac and most importantly how much you are willing to spend/save, those are two very important factors which help determine the right system for your needs.
I'd go for choice 2. Chances are a low end G4/400 with free shipping can be had for around $1499? Or if you pay the going rate of $1599 you may get extra perks such as additional free RAM (you pay installation fee, of course). I would discourage you from using your current iMac as a monitor. Instead I would suggest networking your current iMac with your new G4/400 and purchasing the beautiful and highly rated ViewSonic E771 17-monitor for only $151 includes free shipping (e-mail me for details).
If I can help you find any particular bargains please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail at rossman@macnn.com
