I have a Kodak DC290 Digital Camera for sale.
It features a 2.1 megapixel standard resolution or a 3.3 megapixel Ultra resolution. It comes with a 3X optical zoom, and a 2X digital zoom (6X total). It has a color LCD and four flash modess. The camera comes with a 16 MB card, which is enough room for about 20-30 high resolution photos. Rechargable batteries, a charger, and all connection cables are included. This camera can connect to a PC or Mac, and can connect through USB, serial, or Infared. This camera is a top of the line model, and outperforms most other digital cameras on the market. Retail price on this model is $900, I am offering it for $750. Email me with questions/Offers hobiewahn@houseofr.com Serious Inquiries only Please.

1) How many photos/flashes have been taken?
2) You can purchase this camera brand new for $627 (the lowest price I could find).

On this camera, 0. It has not been opened. I typically get about 25-30 shots on this model camera, doing high res, high quality. (16 MB card) The most I have been able to take is 34, it all depends on how complex the shot is. (more complex=less jpeg compression=fewer pictured)

About the Digital Dog (Where you found the $627 price) I do NOT recommend them. I recently purchased a Sony Camcorder (DCR-TRV10) from them plus a few accessories. When I received the package, the camcorder box was opened, the serial number was ripped off the side of the box, I ordered a 8 hour battery, they sent me a 5.5 hour battery, I ordered a bag, they sent me a tiny Digital Camera bag, and currently have two RMA's open in order for them to fix their mistakes. Also, I ordered on a Wednesday, they promised to deliver on Saturday. (I paid for next day Saturday Delivery) it took them THREE WEEKS to ship me the camcorder, and I received a pile. I am going to file the appropriate customer complaints as soon as I get a replacement. I have needed this camcorder for about two months now, and they said they had them in stock (yea right) so I ordered there. When I called to get replacements sent, they tried to tell me that the seal on the box was "rattled" open by shipping, (Later they told me it was used for an "employee demo") and then they said that the serial number was ripped off and saved by the distributer for their records (yea right) . I know the camera was used before I had it because the time and date were set, and the battery was fully charged. Their story doesnt line up at all.

Anyways, back to the cameras...

I have two of these DC290's left. Both are unopened, direct from Kodak. I personally use this model, and I highly recommend it.

I currently have a eBay auction open for this camera, and will have another one here next week. My reserve is set at $625, so bid accordingly. If you win the auction, and say that you saw it in this MacNN forum, I will give you free US shipping or a free PC card Compact Flash Adapter. I set my asking price high in this thread in order to entertain offers.

The auction is here:

Just to clarify, this camera is brand new, in the box, still sealed from the day it was shipped from Kodak. It is not a refurbished product in any way, shape or form. Sorry if that was not made clear previously.

Yes, but who would the average person give $600 to? A nobody or a business? It's the same as driving a car off of a lot. I don't care if it has 5 miles on it, you can't ask only $5 less than the dealer and get a buyer. How do we know it hasn't been used? Why would someone sell a product that is brand new? I am sure you bought it for some reason. Or maybe you stole it - who knows?!

Well, if I was in the market for a digital camera, I would search out my options. A reputable dealer on the net (from shopper.com) is going to run you about $650 for this model. (CNET certified dealer) Searching on ebay and REVIEWING FEEDBACK will show that there are a number of reputable sellers who are going to give you a price somewhere between $600-$650. Like me, I dont have the capital or time to put up a retail store, either web or brick. I am a small time reseller because I enjoy it, and enjoy a few extra bucks on the side. If you look at my feedback in ebay, my customers have had nothing but praise for me. I offer quick and fast transactions, rapid shipment, and push to resolve issues as fast and hassle free as possible. Maybe someday down the road the opportunity will come for me to expand. Until then I am happy with the size and volume I am currently doing.

It's the same as driving a car off of a lot. I don't care if it has 5 miles on it, you can't ask only $5 less than the dealer and get a buyer.

Um, no. You personally might not want to buy, but I have found good service from smaller REPUTIBLE stores. There are a lot of bad ones, but if you do your homework, there are many good ones. If you have a problem with what I sell, that is fine with me. Go spend more at a retail dealer, and feel good about it. I can sell the identical item at a lower price and give away either free shipping or a PC card adapter. I wouldn't be selling it if I was going to loose money. There are a lot of people who don't have a problem buying from me. You obviously do. That is your opinion, and I don't want your business.

How do we know it hasn't been used?
The box is sealed. If you like I'll directly email you a high resolution jpeg of it. It will be taken from my DC290 camera, the same model that I am selling new, sealed in the box! The clarity of the shots it can take will show that it is the original seal, unbroken.

Why would someone sell a product that is brand new?
Are you really that dumb? TO MAKE MONEY. Duh.

I am sure you bought it for some reason.
Yea, I got a good deal on purchasing a few cameras. I kept one and am selling the rest. It is called business.

Or maybe you stole it - who knows?!
Oh yea, right. That would be smart. Why would I steal a few digital cameras and go sell them on the net? If I was going to steal something to make money it would have to be more expensive, like BMW's, Professional Video Cameras, Drum Scanners, etc. I would not risk going to jail over something small like a digital camera. Besides, I firmly believe stealing is wrong. I am not a scam artist or anything of the sort. Why would I want to hurt my reputation or my customers?

BTW... My gut feeling about the Camcorder from the Digital Dog is that it may have been hot. Why else would the serial number have been ripped off the side of the box, and the box open when I received it? They are in the process of replacing it with a new sealed one. If they do a good job, they will get my praise. If not, it is off to court. I don't have time for games.

I have a phrase I go by when selling to customers. Do it right, or do it twice. I strive to make people happy the first time. I don't cut corners and hope they don't notice. People appreciate that, and that is why I keep doing what I am doing.

Honestly, think before you post. I was trying to attract some attention to promote a good digital camera, and to help sell what I have. This camera easily connects to Windows, Mac OS or Linux. I will even help connect the camera to any of those three OS's. (Yes, I run and use them all) I am an avid Mac user, and figured that this was a good place to advertise. I didn't see any signs saying that this was an attraction for flaming users. Please don't make that MacNN's reputation. I have avidly read MacNN for the last three years. (Remember Reality?) From the quality of your thought, three years ago sounds like toddler stage for you.

Feel free to email me with any Comments/Questions/Concerns.
