Without getting into the theory of value. I would recommend searching completed item on eBay. There are usually a large number of completed used Macs of all series to be found. You can extrapolate from there if you have to. Hope this helps.
Also, try www.everymac.com although their prices tend to be a bit hig. Also, the specs change things a bit, too (RAM, HD size/speed), etc. There are no hard and fast rules.
