Decked-out PowerBook 2400c/180Mhz, 80MB RAM, 6GB HD for sale.

This PowerBook 2400c has been CardBus-enabled by MCE. It has a larger 6GB HD and translucent green Yu-Plan keyboard, both installed by MCE. There is an intermittent problem with the display "streaking," which I think is due to a loose display cable (wiggling the screen often resolves the problem). The following PC Cards are included: Global Village 56k modem/Ethernet combo card, Newer FireWire2Go card (one 6-pin port, with 6-pin to 4-pin FW cable), MacAlly USB card (two USB ports) and Lucent WaveLAN silver card (runs with AirPort 1.3 drivers and software). I will also include the PowerPrint Serial-to-Parallel cable and software in the original box. The Floppy drive is still working, the battery holds a charge for about 110-120 minutes taking notes in class. The original Power Adapter is included along with a Yo-Yo style iBook Power Adapter. Finally, I'll throw in an external 8x CD-ROM for software installation.

The PowerBook is located in Washington, DC. I am asking US$750 plus shipping. Lowered to $600. If you are interested, please contact me at escher@mac.com.

Until we get a 3 lbs sub-PowerBook, the 12-inch PowerBook will do.

I forgot to mention that I will include a nice dark blue Eagle Creek computer case that fits the PowerBook 2400c perfectly, along with a pocket for the floppy, PC Cards and power adapter.

It seems the used PowerBook market will not bear the original asking price for my PowerBook 2400c. I have thus decided to reduce the asking price to $600.

PowerBook 2400c/180, 6GB HD, 80MB RAM, CardBus enabled by MCE, translucent green keyboard, modem/Ethernet, AirPort, USB and FireWire PC cards, two power adapters, PowerPrint serial-to-parallel, external CD-ROM, Eagle Creek bag and retail OS 9 included. US$600 plus shipping.

I'd reccomend this setup to anyone who wants one of Apple's better sub-notebooks. With it's specs, it's quite functional, and if you got another battery, a great way (as escher suggests) to take notes. Taken from everymac.com's specs for the 2400c/180

Original Price:
$3500 US
Est. Current Price:
$700-$950 US

With the upgrade cards, added keyboard, and other accesories being offered with this 'book, if you're looking for an older laptop, you can't go wrong. Though I'm not sure how much it costs, I believe there is a G3 upgrade for this series! Go for it.

I am afraid $600 is out of my reach but it is a great Mac and sounds to be in very good condition. Please do keep in touch with me about what you decide to do with it as if you price continues to come down or my ability to pay it increases I am very interested.

I can be reached at denstene@gac.edu

Bogie: If I don't get any response, I may consider parting out the accessories, which means that you could get the PowerBook (w/o all the accessories) for cheaper. Keep in touch...

I'm interested in that machine, but won't have the cash for another month.
If you still have it next month, I'll take it.
I'll be in DC over the weekend, and I'd love to see it.
Sounds like a great gift for my mom.

Scott: We'll be working on new floors for our appartment all weekend, so it would have to be Sunday evening.

If you can't find a buyer for this ultralight PowerBook, you could always donate to a needy, upcoming college student who will be facing long daily commutes! *hint, hint* I'd pay shipping!

Unfortunately, I have a cousin in France who'd be more than happy to trade up his PowerBook 520c (my first PB, on loan to him since 1998) for the 2400c. Family goes first.

In any case, my PowerBook 2400c with a plethora of upgrades and accessories is still for sale. If somebody is willing to pay $600 for it, I'll pay for (domestic US) shipping.

I want to sell my Pismo, and the offers have been well under $1000...and it ships with 512 Megs ram, VST Superdrive module, along with a boatload of software. I think the new iBook is "cannibalizing" the used Mac laptop market. Good luck though, the machine certainly is worth what you're asking...and hey, maybe your dream laptop (or next best thing) is reminding you of hubris.

It's gone. My PowerBook 2400c has found a lving new home in Florida, while the Yu-Plan keyboard went to Southern California. Thanks to all who showed their interest and support.

I miss my baby already.

Cheers,
Escher
