Yep, I got one. Didn't even have to wait in line.

I also have Ridge Racer V and DOOA 2, an extra gamepad, a steering wheel, and the PS2 Test Kit. Everything is brand new and sealed.

PS2s are closing at more than $1,000 on eBay. Packages like this are going for $1,500.

Make an offer, I'll ship it overnight. You could have it tomorrow.

Have you tried it?

How do graphics compare to a G4 with Radeon?

Thanks.

Anyone that would pay $1000 or $1500 for a PS2 is a complete and utter jackhole. Seriously.

LOL. I'm a guy, btw (in case you didn't know).

Jackhole, perhaps... but considering there won't be any more on store shelves for 4-6 months, and considering that this is the hottest item of the year, perhaps not. Furbys were selling for 4-6x retail, so PS2 is in line with that. Some parents just have to get there kids everything, and some adults just have to have everything... put the two together...

I finally unpacked it, actually. Ridge Racer V is sort of lame since it's a PSX remake, but DOA:2 is incredible. It kills RADEON, big time. The level of detail in the games is unbelievable. On par with stuff you'd see coming out of Pixar, only it's being rendered in realtime. At least 60 FPS, probably more. Never, ever slowed down the least.

This thing has bite. I can't wait for broadband access, which arrives in a few months.

Misha...wow man you got a ps2!!! nice!!!
I saw a Tekken 3 commercial on TV the other day, actually I saw it a few times and WOW! it looks awsome! The detail on the commercial was so unbelievable. I am not going to get one not until at least there available. But $300 bucks seems expensive for a console, but I guess with todays graphics and sound its not so bad. I would keep your system unless your just looking to cash in on the excitment and hype. If I could get a thousand bucks for a ps2 I would sell it too.

Good luck.

Freak,

As I'm sure you've heard, Sony loses a bundle of money on each unit it ships... the technology in there costs far more than $200-$250 they sell them to stores for.

Since I needed a DVD player anyway (hooking my PB up to a TV is a bit of drag), and the model I was looking at cost $300, I basically got a Playstation2 for no additional cost... nice!

BTW Misha...forget the crap about the PS2 not being available for another 4-6 months. Son'y said they'd ship 500,000 at first (launch which has already been bought out) and then 100,000 each month after that.....so there will be more so anyone that pays that much is an idiot. Sony may even be able to make a big shipment for Christmas (to surprise us). BTW i have my PS2 with madden, it roxorz

Yawn...PS2, been there, done that months ago. Not to brag, but the hype is totally undeserved. It gets about as much play as my Atari 2600, except for playing PS1 games, which I still do a lot of (thanks to Dance Dance Pukeolution...)

Misha, why are you selling it? You don't like it, it's a spare, or something else?

Why pay for a Playstation2 at anything over $300, when come September X-Box and GameCube will be released and then Sony will have to lower the price of the PS2 just to compete with the new systems (which are gonna be way, way better!).

For example, when Nintendo released N64 it was at $200, four months after release, it lowered it to $150, that's when I picked it up, and now you can grab one for less than $100.

I know, I know ... some people have the extra cash, just to say "They have the PS2" but c'mon even the $300 is too much too pay for a system who's first generation of games aren't that good and don't even show what the system is really capable of. Maybe when the second or third generation of games are released and all those programmers can really take advantage of the PS2's real capabilities then I wouldn't mind paying the $300, but by that time it'll cost $150 and PS3 is just being released.

I'll wait, I'm still enjoying my N64 and Playstation now

i work at toys r us in canada
really its not that hard to get a ps2
hell we got a couple in the back
the sony rep said that they had lots in the wharehouse
really i think its just a marketing ploy, and it really is workin cause people pay the $500 without even thinkin about it, im guessin that sony made a bundle that first day they were released, really 500, 000 units in one day thats a sh_t load of money
w3rd..

Sony said 500,000 before the end of the year... not the first day. That's half what they had originally planned on being able to ship.

Just to clear things up a bit. Sony shipped over 500,000 units on Oct. 26th. They have been and will continue to ship 100,000 units a week. Don't buy a PS2 for more than $299. You can get one if you check with stores that didn't do any preordering, such as BestBuy, Target, etc... Just call every morning and ask when their next shipment is coming in. Sony will have shipped well over 1,000,000 units by Xmas. DON'T GET SCAMMED!

Crazy people do crazy things!
I bought a Playstation 2 with three games for $350 US in Hong Kong in May of 2000. In August I mentioned it to the owner of a local video shop. He paid me $850 and $200 worth of free rentals. I jumped at the chance since the PS2 is nothing but hype! It was not a great game system.
