I teach at St. Helens HS in St. Helens, Oregon, (30 miles north of Portland) and we take in old Macs, especially PowerBooks for student use on our publications. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and we provide high-end donation receipts for the equipment from values posted on everymac.com and powerbookguy.com. The donation amount is usually two to three times more than what you can sell the equipment for. We also include shipping in the receipt. Donations are fully tax deductible if you itemize your taxes using Schedule A.
Under the 21st Century Classrooms Act, a measure of the Taxpayers Relief Act, companies and individuals donating computers less than two years old are able to take a charitable tax deduction equal to the original purchase price of the equipment.
