I have a Wallstreet PDQ I'm going to be selling pretty soon (about a month or two) and I am just asking anyone what they think a fair asking price would be. I'm not sure, since there are so many models out there, but to give you the low-down on mine, it's a 233 MHz version with 14" active matrix screen and 512k L2 cache. It's the second revision of the Wallstreet and it also has a FireWire PC card. I'm not selling it now, but I will be in about a month, so I wanted to plan financially for then and find out what I'll be asking for it. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I have a 266 wallstreet with 14.1 screen. They told me I could get about $1000 USD. But I would be very surprised to get that much. BTW I am trying to find out if an ipod works with a wallstreet via the pc card. Have you tried?

Thanks Judd

Yes, I have an iPod and an IBM FireWire PC Card. It will work, but the iPod won't charge when plugged in. I got the card from Other World Computing (I'm pretty sure) for $30.

In order for the iPod to register, you have to put it into forced FireWire mode. To do this, hold down the top and bottom buttons while it's on until the screen goes blank and then the Apple logo with the word "iPod" appears on the screen. Then hold down the right and left buttons until a FireWire icon appears on the screen. Now plug the FireWire cord in and it'll sync with iTunes. It's not much more of a hassle than using the built in FireWire port.

I was expecting more along the lines of $450-600 for mine. Laptops are getting more and more advanced, and since ours don't have USB or FireWire, and they're fairly large and heavy, they just aren't that attractive to buyers anymore. Of course my brother, the idiot, thinks I'm being crazy and outrageous if I sell it for $400, but this is a guy who got a Bondi iMac for $150. I think you should get $600 or more for yours.

I did not realise that the IBM FireWire PC Card worked with a powerbook. I have been looking to buy a card but thought that the IBM card was only pc compatible. Can you tell me which model number it is? Have you tried it with a camcorder?

Yes it works fine with the Mac. It also includes both a 6 pin connector and a 4 pin connector, so it should work with a camcorder. I don't have a camcorder though. Remember, it can't power any devices, so avoid devices that require bus power. Make sure whatever you get has an AC adapter or rechargeable batteries that don't require bus power to charge.

On the front, the label says IBM IEEE 1394 CardBus Card and it's blue and black with the IBM logo in the upper right. On the back, it says "IBM FRU: 19K5686" and "IBM P/N: 19K5680"

Thanks for the tips, I checked out the Other world computing site and it still has the PC cards for sale. Now that the new ipod is out, I just have no excuse. One last question though, are you using mac OS9 with the ipod? I do not intend to use OSX and just wanted to make sure the PC card is compatible with OS9.

Thanks
