What ?

Posting links to eBay auctions is allowed here ?

I'd consider this spam.

Links to auctions are allowed. But the title needs to reflect what is being offered. I've changed it from "FS Firefly ..." -> "FA Firefly ..." to reflect the nature of the offer.

Note that Marketplace requires a certain number of posts before one can create new threads. Spammers cannot just post an auction link without first establishing themselves.

I don't see the value in those kind of posts.

I thought the idea behind the Marketplace was to buy / sell among (more or less) known forum members, cutting out the middle man (i.e. eBay).

I would imagine he Marketplace becoming extremely annoying if every member just posted links to their eBay auctions.

Actually, it would be pretty valuable b/c you'd have both the reputation here and the feedback and everything working for you. From an efficiency of information standpoint, it works much better if you know who you're dealing with on Ebay (the way it was in the old days, old old days).

How is a link to an eBay auction any proof that "you" (here) are "him" (on eBay) ?

You're right, but I figure any little bit of info helps. If people want to be a$$holes and rip folks off, then they're going to do it.

I'd be much more likely to buy from some of the guys that I see on here than from some random stranger on ebay. Fact is, I don't play ebay anymore b/c of the randomness. Shame that it went that way.

Same here, that's why I don't find eBay auction links helpful.

If I wanted to buy from eBay, I would search on eBay.
