You should keep the old UBB up and just lock all the topics, and post notes at the top with links to the new forum. That way all the links in my forum emails folder will still work in 6 months when I think of something I once posted about and want to read the thread.

What I suggested.. and was told already happened.. (well it didn't, I guess it was misinterpreted) is that one of the coders can make an app called ultimatebb.cgi and put it in the cgi-bin. Then write it so that it interprets the link, and then redirects to the new link in vB. It seems like a clean quick solution. Maybe some coders have already done a similar app?

yeah thats also a good idea, and much cleaner, but just leaving the old one up would be really easy. Just don't delete it :-?

I'll look into if there's any such software already available, but we're not going to keep running the old UBB. If it's relatively simple to write that UBB->vB link thing, then we may use it, but frankly the search is so fast now that I don't think this is all that critical.
