Recently, it seems that every time I try to post or reply to a post I'm kicked back to a login screen here. This happens on an iMac 350 running OS 9.2.2 using Netscape. On another machine using Windoze 98 and Explorer I do not have to repeatedly login.
Is there a setting in OS 9 I have screwed up, or is a Netscape problem or what?

There is 2 threads on it actually.. Yet still no MacNN staff have offered a solution..
Or maybe they are embarrased that MacNN use PC servers, running software thats been optimised for PC users and their PC browsers..
Hense why the MacNN staff are virtually speechless whenever a Mac user says "It dont work!"
Should we be surprised?
I've been using these forums for a few years now, and I cant believe that after all this time, it's still plagued with major problems.
The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.

whatever. I use these boards with 3 different mac browsers and never have any problems. this is just a glitch with netscape. use IE, iCab, or Mozilla in the interim. One of them will work. If you're using OS X, then iCab, Mozilla, IE, and OmniWeb are your choices--and damn good options, too.

Using Mozilla on Mac OS X I've been forced to log in four times today.

are you using the newest release? I'd try deleting your cookies (or at least the MacNN ones) and starting from scratch.

I have the same problem on Windows NT 4 and Netscape 4.6 on my work machine. Makes participating in these fora damn near impossible.

And people just saying "Well, you have plenty of options", please shut up.

At work, I DON'T have an option. I'm stuck with what the Sysadmins deign to make the standard install.

No problem on my home machine (10.2/Omniweb 4.1.1SP1)

Well it looks like I'll need to get a working version of IE 5 and give up on Netscape. My current IE 5 works poorly, so I'll be looking to re-install.
Thanks for the advice everyone.

I trashed my existing IE 5 and installed a new IE 5.1.5
Seems to be working fine and has apparently cured the excessive login problem.
