Yes!! I agree! I can't tell you how annoying it is to try and search for someone/something, and you get that stupid "Database Error" message.
IF YOU VALUE YOUR MEMBERS FIX THE DAMN SEARCH ENGINE!!!!

Well not quite. I thought the search probs were due to an attempt to reindex the db so that 2-char min searches are possible. However, now even 3-char searches don't work, which is really sad. I tried to search for "beige g3 ram type" and got this "The search term you specified (g3) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer." This effectively leaves me with only the words "beige" and "type" to search for which isn't exactly what I wanted When do you guys think it might be fixed?

Yeah, you're right. I only fixed half of the problem. I guess I spoke prematurely. :o

Hehe Well take your time, at least the thing is working with 4 characters, which is much better than not working at all. We'll try to live with it searching for "geee three" and "geee four" for a while

The search feature still does not work properly. I cannot locate certain threads which I *know* exist and which I can find manually by stepping through the forum pages.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

since m fixed the database problems, the search index is functioning again (dare i say, completely). in particular, not only are searchs working, rebuilding the search index is working quite nicely. i'm currently (almost done) reindexing with a 3 letter minimum; already those threads which have been reindexed can be searched for 3 letter words, while the rest of the 4 letter index persists for those threads not yet reindexed. when this is done, we will start in on the next level. we do plan on getting to a 1 letter minimum.
