I can see why it was put up, with Smoking Gun, but seriously, how often does something like that happen?
This is a pain in the ass to normal users.

Agreed. 
It would have reduced his posts by 1/3, still allowing him to fill up a whole page (easily) before a mod showed up.
Don't punish the many for the acts of a few.

used to be one every 30 seconds. I remember b/c sometimes I have multiple tabs/windows with replies ready to go, then I'd submit one and then try to submit another, but it'd give me the 30-sec. message.

The limitation on searching is much more annoying.

Charles, I HATE THAT!
I have to sometimes sit for bloody ages waiting for searches to go through. It's awful.
The post limit thing has caught me several times before, many, in fact, but because I concentrate my posts over a certain period of time. This means I reply to several things in the stretch of 30 mins, then leave, and come back maybe 5-6 hours later.
What's worse is the database errors, at times they can cause whole posts to dissapear.
