I asked Demonhood about locking a seemingly harmless (albeit patently frivolous) thread on the Lounge.
I was informed that frivolity is lockable.
I can certainly understand why that is the case, but I'm still a bit fuzzy on the subjective nature of measuring frivolity to determine what gets locked. Please bear with me.
Is a thread of 6-7 silly posts really more frivolous than the 5-6 page monsters dedicated to counting or word association? Even the Jarvis (damn bill gates for his rugged whatnot) threads are wholly frivolous, aren't they?
When the Lounge gets serious and political threads multiply, suddenly it's not a fun place and we need to move politics out.
Then when some of us decide to embrace more silliness (even if it's at the expence of a new policy concerning post counts), THAT becomes a problem.
I'm just trying to determine the happy medium, that's all.
Should we assume that the Lounge just becoming a liability in terms of bandwidth/usage/moderating and therefore some cracking down is in order?
