To whom it may concern:
I am a long time supporter and fan of MacNN. I am also a reviewer (look at my signature) for macnn. I have been attempting to post a topic about the G4 Sawtooth and the Radeon 8500s, but Scotttheking keeps locking my topics. I am merely trying to ascertain feedback as to the improvements of this card and it's variations.

I feel that I should at least get an answer as to why Scotttheking is doing such a thing.

Thank you.

For a nice LONG explanation, see that thread, and the ars thread it's linked to.

As for your second thread...

Moving to the lounge.
It wasn't locked, just moved.

You then proceeded to continue posting, which I have locked, other then the ones I deleted.

I asked you to take it to PM, you declined. I have tried contacting you on IRC, no answer.
Please refrain from posting topics about pirating, or topics about PC (x86) video cards in the powermac forum.

Thank you.

While I didn't ask for Scott's reply I am glad he chimed in.

It boils down to this: The Radeon 8500 works on the Sawtooth G4. I am soliciting technical feedback on the card. Since the Sawtooth is a Powermac, this topic is best fitted for the Powermac forum.

I ask that the powers that be in MacNN please intercede as I believe Scott is well overstepping his position as moderator.

Without wishing to state the obvious, and without taking sides, it is very clear that the Card is NOT meant to fit a Macintosh by its manufacturers. It is essentially a PC card. There is no getting away from this which ever way you look at it.

The card may, or may not work in a specific model of long obselete Powermac. So what? for the purposes of the Powermac forum, it was not meant for the purpose you ask about, eg fitment into a specific Powermac.

With this in mind I would suggest it could be more appropriate to post the comment/question in the 'Mac Modification' forum. At best. Instead you make it both Personal and Public... Hmmm.

Peace,

Marc

P.S. Oh, and Phil means it! If he was in command, there would be a mass cull alright...

If this is the case then why are there literally dozens and dozens of similar topics/threads on the Powermac forum which have not/never been closed? Why suddenly am I being targeted? Why the inconsistancy?

Just had a look in there now, and there are no threads of the type you posted...

There are currently active:

'Need help software' theads,
Need help hardware' theads
'Which (official) upgrade' threads,
'970 speculation' threads,

And the closest to your thread contents:

'Which hard drive' threads.

I really don't think you have any reason to feel hard done by.

You received an explanation for the thread closure a few times in the beginning. Posting it again, and again, and again, isn't going to change the fact that the thread should not be in that particular forum... Maybe the hint wasn't big enough.

And also, in general, posting something 6 times is really going to piss people off after a while...

I would just bite the bullet and post, what is a very valid enquiry, in the correct/'Modification' forum and take the hit.

Peace,

Marc

Do a simple search for the 8500s. The main thread changes so much day to day, saying there is no recent discussion of it is disingenuious.

Uttter, utter rubbish.

http://forums.macnn.com/search.php?s...amp;sortorder=

Above are search results for '8500' in the Powermac forum. We have a few (two) long standing threads on the general subject of the 8500 in Powermacs. That have not been contributed to for about 20 days. There is also one which deals with EXACTLY the subject of the 98500 in Sawtooth Powermacs!!

The rest are your locked efforts!

Before this month, there was some discussion. (Not that much when compared to the other traffic.)

2 points.

Why the need to start another thread, when a few are already open that you could very easily contribute to?

Secondly, whatever trolling and moaning you do, I still think that your topics, in the form you posted, are not relevant to the current Powermac forum, regardless of what has been discussed in the past.

Neither does Scott, and they have been locked. I would just 'deal'. It is not as if the topic can't be discussed. It can be. There are threads on the subject. There is a form devoted to hacking your mac. Why oh why make another thread??

You are making an issue out of nothing, and just being fractious.

Peace,

Marc

A thread with 14 pages is not something which I would call "some" discussion.

Belongs in Mac Modification (IMHO)...that forum's all about doing things to your mac that Apple never dreamed of AND modifying other equipment to make it work with a mac.

Start kvetching if it gets locked there.
