It's gone down a few times in the last few days. Can you add text placeholders for when the graphics are down?

I experience this problem quite a bit too. Right now I'm running IE6 on XP. I'm pretty sure it happens to me with Safari too.

Ok, i'm not exactly sure what's going on here. Can anybody provide a specific error, time or other message when they "see the image server" go down?

I see Scott's error message. Are others seeing the same thing? Timing? Can you try www4.macnn.com when it happens?

thanks,
monish

From Mozilla:

400 Bad Request
Your client has issued a malformed or illegal request.

no images most of the time.

From Safari:

{same as above}

altho in safari, the images show up.

From IE:

403 Forbidden
Your client does not have permission to get URL / from this server.

and the images show up just fine.

down again. only placeholders are visible.

No error messages. Just loads the page with placeholders.

Anyone else with this problem have a proxy server between them and the net? If so, when you see the problem, restart the server, and see if it goes away.

Ok, I've combed my network, I don't see anything on my end.
Can someone look at the server? It's getting extremely annoying, it's been down for a few days.

Don't know if it is linked to the problem above (which has been a lot better for me in recent days...), but there are '?'s all over the place for me too instead of icons...

Yep it's related. Browsing the forum with Safari is quite impossible at the moment.

first the db, now the image server. Can you please get someone that knows what they are doing. Stuff like this shouldn't last beyond 24 hours.

It's just unprofessional imo and I am sure it can/will cost you future advertisers.

The odd thing for me, when it happens in Safari 1.0, is that quitting and relaunching Safari fixes it (unless that's just forcing Safari to turn to its cache).

Well at least Safari now has placeholders instead of nothing, like before...
