Well in light of the current thread hijacking with images it might be a good idea. It would prevent people from creating new accounts to spam the boards up. Maybe for your first month you are limited to 5 posts a day. it wouldn't solve the problem, there are easy ways to circumvent it. However, it might make it just hard enough to make it not worthwhile for them. Also, banning might be more of a deterrent for people who usually make many posts per day (...someone comes to mind...).

Meh, maybe it's not as good of an idea as I originally thought.

What about a post limit for all users. The mods can look at the average posts per day and set a limit for each person based on their counts. Then, users can petition via private messaging for a larger quota. Thus...I post at most 10 or 15 a day and usually no more than 5. A limit of 15 would be fine with me.
Granted, this would be more work for the mods and these attacks are so infrequent, it might not warrant such a measure.

How often does this happen? In all fairness it is a pretty rare occurrence...

Why institute 'emergency measures' when there is really no real need. It would be like the proverbial 'using a Sledge Hammer to crack a Walnut' scenario...

I absolutely agree with Marc on this.

Restrictions would be nonsense. I sometimes post a lot, then nothing at all. What would Cypher do?
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Yea, it isn't that good of an idea. My mind was clouded by other images at the time.

simply disabling inline images for new accounts would be a good start.

Restricting in line images isnt gonna do any good. Whats gonna stop them from posting ascii pr0n?

While I would be for incentives based on participation, I think we have enough problems with some people being post horny around here.
