See subject. I cannot reply anymore when no icon is loaded. Hell, if you have that much trouble with the image server, make the reply buttons, etc., text.

Yes, this only happens to me in Safari. Generally, if you restart Safari (or empty your cache and restart Safari), the problem will go away.

I don't know what the deal is, but if you launch Camino or something while you're having that problem, it's rarely duplicated. Most of the time, it's not the image server's problem.

This problem occurs after loading MacNN and getting a database error, while using Safari.

It *is* a problem with the image server that it does not like some valid but perhaps unusual http requests.

You can try it with iCab ... it will work fine with about all other servers on the www but not with www4.macnn.com where it gets the reply "400 Bad Request Your client has issued a malformed or illegal request." for each image.

So either you'll find something unusual in the config file of www4, or you can use a packet sniffer and try to see the differences in client requests, or you can try and telnet manually all valid kinds of http requests to www4 and see which ones it accepts and which not.

I would appreciate if that could be fixed soon. Thank you.

Well, the thing is that I don't experience similar problems anywhere (read: anywhere) else and since this is supposed to be a Mac forum (and I assume that a lot of us are using Safari), a fix would be nice.

Ok, I have heard a lot about this image server problem, but have never experienced it myself (in either Camino, Safari, or IE--all three of which I used regularly).

I tried iCab per the suggestion above and saw no problems using the image server.

The image server runs Boa, a small, lightweight, but very powerful server.

I have been looking for answers as too many report the problem for it to be only a cache-based browser problem; HOWEVER, I have found that when I do tell someone to empty their cache, the problem almost always goes away.

The more detail (like the iCab suggestion above) I have will help me reproduce the problem and offer possible solutions.

Well I browse other forums as well with Safari (e. g. BSDforums.org), no problems there. Up to about half a year ago, MacNN worked without glitches with both Camino and Safari.

Has someone changed the config within that period of time?
