How about a "Soapbox" forum?

There seem to be two kinds of distinctly different posts in the Lounge. There's the civilised "Hey, here's some recipes", or "What's your favourite Pixar movie?" or "Wow it's hot today" or "My dog just died" or "Got an interview tomorrow" ones, which correspond to the sorts of conversations people have in the real world, then there's the "soapbox" ones (the ones where people start spouting off their beliefs about big issues - religion, gays, evolution etc). I'm as guilty as anyone at being involved in these threads, but sometimes it would be nice to pass them by. So how about a "Soapbox" forum?

Not a bad idea IMHO.
Oh, I seem to have stumbled upon this forum! I guess I followed the trail from the Lounge!

isn't the political/war/religious/philosophical lounge our 'soapbox' lounge?

I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

Why not just avoid these topics? The point of multiple forums seems to be to help people easily find the topics of interest to them, not to push other topics away so that they're shown the disapproval of other posters.
I mean ultimately I couldn't care less, but this seems like a "I'm better than poster X, we should put poster X's posts in another forum so I dont' have to look at them." post.

Yeah, but you're a fool with skills of comprehension comparable with a three year old.
Of course this suggestion seems to you like it's something it isn't.

I agree,
It's not like people are MAKING you read posts.
If you have no self control, that you HAVE to click on a thread, maybe the problem isn't the system.
I can see it now, the Lounge branching off in 10 different subtopics. Heh.
