Clicking several of the links at the top of a MacNN Forum page yields unexpected results...

News links to the Forums index

both Reviews & Teams links to a page that reads...
"Greetings! If you're getting this page, you're probably trying to reach a site hosted by MacNN or BackBeat Media. You can not reach any of our sites by using the IP address, rather you need to use the domain name of the individual site. They are listed alphabetically as follows:
forums.macnn.com
forums.appleinsider.com
forums.architosh.com
www.cnnsi.com

If you ARE using the domain name and are seeing this message, it's likely that your browser is having problems supporting today's web protocols. Try quitting and relaunching your browser or try using a different browser to see if you're still having the problem."

Of course, there is at least one more reason people get to see this page -- the sys admins screwed up and redirected valid URLs to this arrogant drivel.

Surely you must have seen this on your way into this forum to post that.

I don't really know why you're getting so angry about it...

Actually, I did not see the announcement post before I made my post. I hope things go well in restoring operations in the wake of the hurricane.

FWIW my post was intended as a _ribbing_ (hence the ) about the assumptions and the language on the 'error page' that MacNN users get to experience when there are outages, network configuration errors, etc., not an 'angry' complaint about the outage. Notice that the error message page assumes - incorrectly - that the only two ways that a MacNN user could possibly see that page was if they were doing something 'wrong' (using an IP in the URL or using outmoded software). Perhaps an error message which acknowledged that there just might be other ways that people can see this page and offered some alternates besides the wild goose chase of replacing one's browser would have been handy last night. For example, error pages (like the one in question) could have links to the page (or pages) which MacNN typically uses to notify users of outages, etc..
