I have a question for the peole who run this forum. Do you set the option for gzipping the output of this forum? If so what lever do you use. Do you find that it saves enough bandwidth to make up for the extra power it uses? Seeing as how one page of a popular forum can easily grow to be 100K or more of HTML, and because its plain text, prime for compression, it seems like a good choice to use GZip compression on a forum. I use it on my two vBulletin's, but both have to little traffic that this point that i don't think you can tell much of a difference either way. Although I did manually save a few pages of my forum as html and gzipped them manually, and they both went from 20-25 K to 3-4K thats a pretty good gain. On a slow connectoin what you loose in processor speed you gain right back in saved time downloading.
