Hi

I'm new here at MacNN. A couple of days ago I started this thread:

http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...hreadid=195873

All of the sudden the thread was locked, as you can see, by the admin. Why????
I have absolutely nothing to do with the site I linked to. It should be pretty obvious, that I'm not the author behind www.macattorny.com. I do not speak fluent english, and my english grammar is a mess, so I can't see how the admin (tooki) can possibly think I'm doing the site.
For Christs sake! I was merely trying to pass on a url to a site that has helped me and lot's of other people troubleshoot Mac OS X. I've done so in many other mac-forums, and the response have always been positive. I was trying to help fellow macusers!

This wasn't a good start here at MacNN

tooki interpreted it as a thread that was simply promoting a website (which it was).

Don't get your panties in a bunch.

No, Tooki interpreted it as if I was posting self-promotional messages, which I wasn't!....Besides people post links to site whey want others to see all the time.

Probably shouldn't have been locked; however, it happens...

Remember, even Apple "deletes" posts on their forums in regards to negativity towards Apple and it's products...

Yeah, he thought you were promoting your own site, as did I. Nect time, post the link when someone has an actual problem, pointing out where the solution can be found.

You could always PM tooki and explain the situation. He might unlock the thread.

there you go again, attacking people just to be a nasty blighter. Bugger off until you've something better to contribute, and take your juvenile grudges to PMs or emails, not a drive-by public attack.

dtriska: how are we supposed to take MacNN and the forum admins serious, when they don't even bother replying to PM/emails?! I thought MacNN had higher standards for their admins....

I don't take them serious. For the most part, they're volunteers (as far as I know), so I give them some latitude.

I've also been around long enough to know that these forums have very, very few good mods. A lot of the forum moderation is a joke.

You could try starting a new thread on the same topic and reference this thread. It'll be for getting the mods' attention, but I don't know if it'd actually do anything. And, there's the possibility that you'd piss off one of the mods.

Oh, and if you really want to get some attention on this issue, post in The Lounge. Sure, people will complain, but like I said, the moderation around here is a joke and people cross-post and post in the wrong forums all the time without any consequences.

Last I knew, Tooki had moved and had limited internet access for a while. That may explain why he hasn't gotten back to you. Or not.

Well, that can't explain it, since he's been posting in the forums in that period...
