There sure is a lot of crap (my opinion) posted by the same people. I am inclined to consider it spam. I mean, where (if ever) will the line be drawn? Will we have to see "How much toilet paper do you use?", "How many squirts are you capable of?", or "How often do you masturbate?" threads in the future? So much for the myth of Mac users being more intelligent.

I don't view those threads but there is obviously an ample supply of those who do. I expect to see them for a long time to come.

I doubt anything's going to get done about a_b (there's always hope), but I just avoid posting in his threads. Every single thread is a question, and he only time he posts is to start threads, so I think someone is reply whoring. Anyway, can the ignore function make the person's threads disappear too? I would donate money to make it happen!

More lockination!

At some point I begin to view it as spam. A question or poll by someone now and then is fine, but when they have started 10 threads in one day asking for what amounts to marketing info, that's a bit unreasonable. I'm not planning to frequent the lounge as much as long as this continues.

it's quite simple, really: just ban ankle_brain and his/her main user account(s). same goes for all the copy cats. they're all other users here, so just take some action for once.

Something needs to be done. I try to avoid posting in those threads, but this morning I got up and saw one, saw it was John B. Jones or something and posted since he had 330 posts already. I figured I was safe. Then I saw the forum index, and there were about ten other question threads by him. ARG!

In theory, since it doesn't like like they're getting banned fast enough, if everyone just ignores those threads, they'll end up on page 2 pretty fast.

Well, there are two approaches:

1) The ignore approach
2) The "derail the thread" approach

I've found both to be quite effective.

well, some of ankle_brains threads have gone on to be quite successful threads spanning multiple pages. admittedly, most have not. but i'll be closing those from now on.

just try not to intentionally derail his threads. if it's stupid and pointless, report it and i'll close it. he does it enough, he'll get the hammer (like the ankle_brains wannabees last night).

theres a simple way to handle the problem as well.

if the topic reaks of stupidity, dont respond to it.

i know if infuriates people to post an angry whatever from time to time (im guilty as well), but just ignore the junk threads and maybe theyll go away.
