wouldn't it be cool if there were a way to have vBB split posts that are too long into multiple posts?

Granted it would run the risk of flooding, but it's a real pain splitting posts manually, guessing at what's going to be the right length to split at.
If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.

I don't care, if posts are too long, chances are slim that I'm gonna read them, no matter if they are split into pieces or not.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Yep, if it would silently cut long posts simply off I might not get aware of it because I am likely reading the next one already.

this would be a nice feature, but i doubt more than 3 or 4 people on macnn would actually need to use it.

I second that. Summarize the topic in your own words and link to the original article, instead of quoting 5 pages from The Economist that nobody reads anyway.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Granted, I go nowhere near the war lounge, but is this really a pressing issue? If I were an admin, I'd concentrate more on archiving 2+year old threads so they stop getting bumped from beyond the grave. It's bad enough that the old threads are full of illegal font styles from the UBB days that make them impossible to read.
