Couldnt MacNN offer a premium service, where you login and all the ads are removed? I'd gladly pay that seeing as the ads are so sucky

Have you tried the app Pithhelmet?
Blocks all the ads automatically... I use it a lot and browse most sites (not MacNN  ) advert free.

or firefox with adblock. some ads I leave up--but if they're animated, flash-based, setting cookies, or from ad-serving companies or sites, they're history.
