When you let them come back with a new username and nothing gets done?

No, I am not talking about Ca$h either.

There was a member that was banned the same time I was from the PL that was for a "few days" (Still on going) and that person created a new account.

Admins know about said person being a banned member and don't care.

Does that mean I can make a separate account just to post in the PL?

Or are the mods too worried about inline images?

I am not trying to tell the admins what to do.. but come on..

You guys need to be a little consistent.

And you wonder why hardly anyone "respects your authority"

Do you need some cheese to go with your whine, Zim?

Oh no, I just mentioned cheese. I guess this thread's getting derailed now...

Not whining, just pointing out some obvious shenanigans going on.

Rules are good. But they need to be consistent with them.

Why not? You might as well include him as well...

Fact is, if they REALLY wanted to ban ca$h on a perm bases.. they could.

Unlike this guy, Ca$h actually adds something to the forum.

Heh, I don't think Ca$h talks that much crap about the car. He knows it's not that fast.

From the PL about 4 times. From MacNN once.

Not one of those times did I circumnavigate the ban to post.

Which is what I am talking about.

I have no problem with people being banned and taking their punishment.

In all forums but this one, ban evading is a "shitlistable" offense.

I agree completely. But, what difference does it make if you were let back in without changing you name while others were let back in through changing their names? To me, both undermine the purpose of banning. At the other forums I participate in, "banned" means banned, never to return.

The difference is one is respecting the ban, and therefore let back in because they respected it.

And one is saying "I refuse to be banned" and they are allowed to be let right back in.

It's like they aren't giving people a reason to respect the ban.

All other forums I have been to have banned only for a week tops. Unless the person is showing total obnoxiousness.

I was banned from NN for a long while. Not once did I post in that time. So I was let back in.

But if they had respect for made-up-internet-rules, then they wouldn't have been banned in the first place. The precedent was set on this board years ago, bans are nothing more than an inconvenience to a determined poster.

If NN perm banned anyone that broke any rule MacNN forums wouldn't exist.

Which is very idealistic and not very likely.

You have no idea...

Banning cash is, frankly, impossible. It's been tried.

He has no qualms about creating 200 yahoo accounts so he can re-register -- this is not conjecture but past experience.

I have no idea who the subject of this thread is -- I do not follow the PL at all, and have no inkling who you are talking about. So by "admins", you must mean "that one admin that's not tooki", because there are two admins around right now (myself included), and I do not know who you are talking about.

your complaints about consistency have more to do with us not being able to be everywhere all the time. and the fact that i've banned more than a hundred people and have a hard time remembering them all.

so yeah, give me a break. things will get taken care of. and if you want to personally see to it that stuff happens, send a PM, abuse report, or IM.

you posted this topic 6 hours after you IM'd me. maybe i had better things to do with that time than follow up on it right there and then.

Actually, I will say this. Although I am not shy about expressing my theory that MacNN is extremely biased, I will say that I continue to come here everyday anyhow...the same as many of you.

But I do think Zimph should be allowed back in the poli - lounge

Can't you ban yahoo/hotmail accounts? Some of the stricter forums I visit do this.

Yeah I am back in... but I am in no hurry to post there.

I am sure that should make a few people happy.

I am just glad I can now read the drivel without having to log out.
