Idea: make a new kind of vB code tag which changes the color/style of text so sarcasm can be more easily detected. With people's varying senses of humor, this could be beneficial and even humorous.

What if you're trying to be ironic?

This is a computer-generated message and needs no signature.

Could be covered by the same set of tags.

Basically, it'd be a way to mark certain statements so those with dryer senses of humor can make sure everyone gets the idea.

It'd be an option, obviously. It wouldn't be mandatory.

I like the thought behind the idea. Hoever, the use of smilies serves me OK in these instances.

Other times, I'll add a </sarcasm> following my sarcastic comment.

What if you're using sarcasm as a way to get away with saying something you wouldn't normally be able to get away with.

If there were more smilies to pick from, they could serve as a decent replacement for this idea. But I've seen everyone use every smilie currently in rotation for almost every imaginable use, so to me (at least), they've lost meaning.

Yep, we seriously need more smilies. Especially more of the annoying animated ones. No board is complete without at least 376 smilies to choose from.

Your post would make a great sig line. Mind if I use it?

It seems so. I saw this emoticon for the first time today at another forum I frequent (nothing related to bananas).

Why would you need sarcasm tags?
Where's the fun when we have to tell you `oh, this part is sarcastic'?
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

People here also seem to make a distinct lack of appreciation of satire. I try satire now and then and people either don't get it or start flaming me after they took it literally.

/me waits to be flamed for his post in the PL which was satire.
