Okay, so sometimes I'm dense. But maybe a lot of people are, too. So when a thread gets locked, maybe a brief post by the mod explaining the lock would help us appreciate what was the infraction?

In particular, I couldn't figure what was wrong with the thread about Mac mini upgradeability?

http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...hreadid=241910

Explaining that one would be cool... but might it not be better to have a (member-educating) policy for mods to summarize the violation (e.g., "no 10GB jpgs" - or whatever). Might especially help bring newbs up to speed.

At the top of that forum:

No more Mac mini threads!

All Mac mini threads started after this message is posted will be unconditionally closed. Use existing threads.

What makes no sense to my is why people don't even look before posting. Sometimes, they post a question that's literally one line down from the top.

We put that big announcement at the top (that's where we put announcements), prohibiting any more Mac mini threads because at the time I posted, there were already over a dozen threads. Since I posted the prohibition, approximately 30 more threads were posted. Would we really have needed 45 open Mac mini threads? Hardly.

So, if you don't take time to read the announcements at the top of the forums, you might get burned, because we take things seriously.

Love Calm Quiet, you not only ignored the "no more Mac mini threads" notice, you also posted an oversize inline image, in clear violation of our inline image guidelines.

Uh, wouldn't that be me rather than my.

Nice that you look before posting

I'm allowed to make the occasional typo, thank you very much. I still have better orthography and grammar than most of the punks here.

OK, now I know you're not talking to me

Buy the way, I've seen a lot of images in the forum lately that are breaking your size rules. Why don't you stop jawing and get to work

Tooki...
Sorry about posting to the thread. I hadn't notice the new Sticky. (or even the new forum notice at that point).
Also, I'm confused about the "oversize inline image". I am SURE that I did not.

(I don't remember that I've ever put *any* image in a forum post. )

I'll pass on the group hug... but THANKS, Tooki.

One of the things I appreciate about the forums is the patience with all the (uncountable) idiosyncracies (my denseness included)!
