Considering the security warnings that Jelsoft has been giving administrators in recent days, I'd say that it is definitely time to upgrade to vBulletin 3.0.7. Besides, I have no way to say this tactfully, but... MacNN is the least attractive Web site and bulletin board that I visit on the Internet.

Is there a reason for the delay in upgrading, and is the delay going to remain indefinite just because the board seems to be thriving in its present state?

I would really like to take advantage of all of the personalizable experience-enhancing options of 3.0.7, which I enjoy on my own Web site and others that I visit.

Settling for vBulletin 2.3.5 to view interesting content is like having to settle for using a Windows computer at work. Well, to be fair, an upgrade to 2.3.6 would also solve the same security risks, but it is still an unenjoyable user experience.

I used to post a lot under my real name in past years, but I'm trying to erase my footprints all over the Internet by switching my user names to this alias and removing references to my real name and email address wherever possible.

However, if what you really mean is that I'm maybe rehashing an age-old discussion or somehow violating Forum Rules by potentially irritating the administrators, I guess I didn't do enough background reading before posting my message. :-)

We run a highly-customized copy of vB, so the major upgrades (like v3) require us to redo all those customizations, and that's where we're at now. We don't have a paid programmer, so we have to allow our guy to work on it when he has time.

Jeff ******* says (9:19 AM): Eww, Ottawa is gross. It's infested with politicians, and presently, 1 Harper as well.

tooki,

Can you give the forum an approximate date of when we might expect something like this to materialize.

I agree with Xiaopangzi, that these changes need to happen soon.

It's like using OS9 with Tiger a few weeks away. But seriously, this site is pretty popular and it does make it look dated and not very visually pleasing with such an antiquated version being used.
I would like to think that the powers that be that own this site can see that and would at least have something in mind to at least make it look as if this forum belongs in the 21st century.

This is a computer-generated message and needs no signature.
