MacNN homepage redirects directly to www.meta-comm.com.

Something wrong with the banner tag or it's done on purpose?

FWIW, we forum admins have no control over ads -- if we did, I'd remove a lot of them.

The ads are circulated automatically by several ad companies. The owner of MacNN can manually remove a specific ad, but he does not get to screen them beforehand. The ad companies let you choose what types of ads you do and don't want, but they often ignore your selections, so you get ads you don't approve of and have to remove them manually when you happen to see them on your site.

I don't think that MacNN's owners would sanction having any ad redirect from their main page. I think it was a glitch in some code that has-as far as I can tell, since I can get to the MacNN page without any problems right now-been corrected.

Ads are a drag; the one I just looked at was for college loans of "up to $30,000 a year." HOLY COW! How many years would you have to work to pay THAT off? Geeze. Anyway ads pay the bills and make MacNN free for you to use..."There ain't no such thing as a free lunch."

That's called freeloading. Someone's paying for them.

EDIT: Oops, missed the eye rolling.
