No locking Feedback threads? It seems like russia- keep the complainers silent. The complainers should have places to whine unreasonably

Yes, it makes it look like admins are trying to silence when important questions get asked.

Unreasonably? They should direct their whines to dev-null@macnn.com

Why not lock a thread that has gotten out of control?

This is a computer-generated message and needs no signature.

So I just have to limit my flagrant violations of the rules to this forum and it's fine? This would cease to be a feedback forum and become a "Be as vulgar and abusive as you can" forum.

What if the thread hadn't gotten out of control?

There are threads in this part of the forum that wasn't out of control, and was locked anyhow.

Threads that honest discussions was going on.

I guess there are certain things admins don't want members talking about.

*yawn*

You made your case, we listened to it, and we disagreed. Wasting everyone's time by repeating your complaint over and over and over again helps nothing.

It dosent waste anyone's time if its contained in the same thread. People can choose to read it or not. IF people are reading it, then it is some interest to some people. For those that it is no interest to they will avoid it. Sooner or later no one will have interest in it and it will die on its own.

These thread's seem to spiral down into ranting, name calling and typically go off topic. Like everything else a thread has a life span, and sometimes its reached - time to pull the plug

And sometimes it's just locked because someone is asking uncomfortable questions.

Brian, stay out of things that don't concern you.

Zimph has posted his gripe (the supposed "inconsistency" of how we operate) in numerous threads, countless private messages, and incessant AIM messaging. He has pissed away tremendous amounts of time -- his and ours -- by repeating the same rhetoric over and over. He has failed to convince us, but is so blinded by his feelings of entitlement to special treatment that he can't see what's really going on: nothing. There is no conspiracy to give anyone here special treatment.

tooki just in case you haven't noticed. Even though you keep acting like it, *I* am not the only person that is saying these things.

Nor did I start this thread, or that one.

Stop using me as a scape goat.

So in the future, censorship is done in order to not waste anybodies time ?

1. We do NOT censor because of content, opinion, or point of view. We silence those who are incapable of expressing their thoughts in a civil manner, no matter what those thoughts may be. These people are just too dense to believe us on this point.

2. Even though we don't censor, we have every right to do so. This is a private enterprise. The U.S. Constitution promises only that the federal government is not allowed to restrict free speech. Any other entity or individual is free to censor at will. Individual states' constitutions place similar restrictions on themselves, but again these restrictions apply only to the government.

3. We have ended these discussions not because we want to squelch dissent, but because the discussions were making no progress. People made their cases, we disagreed, and they wouldn't accept it, so they keep the discussion going on and on. We don't have the time or inclination to discuss the same things ad nauseum. The whiners aren't listening (they are seeing the words, but refuse to believe them), so there is no point in continuing.
