What happened to direct linking?

Maybe I'm just missing where it is, or it has already been explained but could someone tell me how to direct link to posts(if it's still possible)?

It's a big hassle. You have to look for in the HTML source and find the <a name="2618418">-type link above the post, and then you can just append it to the URL like Athens demonstrated.
