I thought there was Freedom of opinion; funny enough, mostly conservatives have replied with outrage, while most liberals seem not to care. On the other hand, the sucky part is on with the little apartheid involving kevin and besson3c. which is far more common and bothersome a behavior throughout the Lounge and the P.L., making threads personal exchanges that should be dealt with through pm or in front of a beer.
I think this quote from Simple says it best. Mods need to crack down on personal exchanges, anything over 2 replys from each person in relation to a argument with out any real content should be just deleted. If posts keep getting deleted no one will bother to argue.

You'll have no arguements with me.
It's been a trend lately for certain people to constantly harrass, and bring personal things into threads where they obviously do not belong.
Both SWF and besson has been doing it all week. besson making comments and SWF being his lap dog right after with teh ROFLS and "HAHA" at the most stupid inane stuff
I asked him a few times why he was doing it only for him to slip into his righteous indignation act.
He seems defensive about ever knowing anyone here before, even when no one has even mentioned it.
Someone needs to go back to acting class.

What does SWF stand for may I ask? I thought it was SWG. What does your F stand for?

It's not "freedom of opinion" if you can only have opinions about some things. You have a right to have opinions on anything you want, including other people's opinions (which Simple exercises with his post). Conversely, everyone else have a right to have any opinion on anything, including your opinions.
So-called "negative rights" do not have a place in a free society, because they undermine "positive rights" by their very definition. You cannot have both freedom of opinion and freedom from criticism, because so-called "freedom from criticism" is nothing more than abdridging other people's freedom of opinion.

I've heard it both ways.. don't think it matters.
I believe the F for "Fan"

I think there is a difference between constructive criticism, and going around from thread to thread harassing someone for no reason.
Maybe?

and what about personal attacks that have nothing to do with opinions but are there just to drag you down. This isnt a public forum, its a private membership like a club. Free Speech is one thing, attacks are another.

Athens' point is a good one; some of us tend to derail threads on personal issues/conflicts with other members. kevin may attribute it to others but he is a perpetrator as well. The thing is that no one can blame him as mucgh because we all tend to do it, which means controlling that behavior almost impossible.
I did suggest to Athens already that self-discipline from everyone will be the best to do, and extreme cases will be dealt with by mods. Does not sound much different than what has happened so far in the last few months. Hence my thread about Thinkinsane, who did quite a good job in the Pol Lounge and with enough honor to be envied by Klingons.
Maybe I should start a thread for all the other mods as well...

I think the forums are very well moderated and run nicely most all of the time. The PL can get quite heated and contentious, but that forum is the designated place for controversial subjects; it's difficult to debate certain controversies in completely diplomatic tones. Certainly defamation should be shut down and flame fests should be curtailed, but I truthfully cannot name one contemporary thread that has risen to what I deem a flame war.
