For the sake of research and learning from this catastrophe in days to come, is there a way we can segregate or flag these Katrina threads now so when doing a search we'd be able to get the information we'd need?

Umm.... Try searching for posts constaining "Katrina" in August and September 2005?

Katrina's not a very common name, you'll probably only get threads about the Hurricane. (and possibly the Hot Babes thread...)

You know how some idea you had seemed like it was good at the time, and you had de-bugged it and everything and it STILL seemed like a good idea and then you write it out and then you re-read it and go ahead and post it then you realize you feel realllly tired and go to sleep and wake up and realize it was a STOOOPID idea but it's too late to erase it or anything because someone else has already seen it and even though they didn't call you STOOOOOOOOPID
that's the way you feel because you usually post things that aren't easily refuted or in other words, STOOOOPID.

I don't know about segregating them, but the moderators and administrators need to do something about people creating and/or using them to attack people with opinions different from their own.

I was HOPING someone here would have helped a brother out by pointing out WHY simply doing a search using "Katrina" would be a bit sticky.

As it is and will be the greatest (largest, you sillies!) event in recent history people will refer to it and use the name KATRINA in all KINDS of contexts. So, if someone is going to search in the future about the storm and it's related results and the conversations devoted to it here their job will be made even more difficult by the fact that Katrina will be mentioned in things as UN Katrina-centric as haircuts and baby names and the similarity between the way the word "Katrina" sounds and the word "Kachina." And the fact that there's a neighborhood in Arizona called, Kachina Village.
