What's wrong with nonsense threads?

I don't mean to sound ungrateful, disrespectful, or anything of the sort, but at what point does a thread become a nonsense thread that gets locked?
You see, to me, threads where people post pictures of their favorite babe, the 60,000th thread where Kevin and Rob bicker about SUVs like children, and threads discussing the latest celebrity gossip are nonsense to me, or at least a waste of resources. I'd personally rather read the silly nonsense threads than these threads.
I guess a thread is classified as nonsense based upon the traditional definition of nonsense: absurd and silly, but when is being absurd acceptable? I occasionally like being absurd, this is my sense of humor, but I don't want to offend or bother people, and I don't want mods to have to lock my threads.
I guess I'm unclear as to the boundaries here, and what exactly is wrong with this sort of humor?
Would a mod kindly clarify this for me?
Again, sorry if this rubs you the wrong way... I'm not trying to pick a fight.

I hate SUV threads too. And Rob thinks everyone is 100x dumber than he is. Constantly forever and other extreme words.
And I think tooki was going after the people who post nothing BUT verbal masturbation.

Threads that have essentially no content will get closed by me. If someone wants to discuss something real, even if it's something that doesn't interest me, that's totally fine. But threads that serve no purpose to gather "+1" posts and pad people's post counts will get closed.

I agree with you, I don't like Rob's tone or his form, but as we've been through before, you are also partly to blame because, no offense, you simply cannot shut up. You just have to keep it going and going and going and going.
And I think tooki was going after the people who post nothing BUT verbal masturbation.
This is still not a satisfactory answer to me. What is verbal masturbation? My sense is different than what your sense is. Logically speaking, people aren't just posting nonsense for no particular reason, because it would be easier to simply write a post that looks like this:
asdfasdfasdfadsfadfl;kjsfd fds fasd
Obviously, they think it is funny, or interesting, or something... right? There had to be some sort of motivation to write the thread.
You know how I hate posts filled with sloppy grammar mistakes that should have been corrected in grade school, but one of the reasons I stopped pointing out these flaws is because people (possibly you included) replied by saying "it's just the internet, as long as the person is able to convey meaning, who cares about the form?" Well, why should we start caring now? Who decides what has meaning, what is meaningful, etc.?

How is this defined? Why were James5678 posts allowed for so long? Why are silly picture threads permitted? These have no content to me...
Jokes with punch lines are allowed even though they don't have any actual content, but my joke thread about the traffic lights gets locked? When does a joke have content? How can you tell when somebody is trying to +1? What is +1? Why would anybody care about increasing their post count? (To me, I feel ashamed that I spend as much time here as I do..
I understand that it is your decision what constitutes real content, but I think it might be worthwhile to clearly define what kinds of posts are not permitted.

It's like porn vs nudity: I know porn when I see it.
Similarly, I know a junk thread when I see it. When it adds no value to the forums in any way, I can choose to nix it.

This still doesn't answer my questions in a way that is satisfying to me, but I'll leave it at that... I don't want to get into an argument about this, I'll just live in my confusion over these perceived inconsistencies and will play it safe!

You do realize that, though we attempt it, we are under zero obligation to be consistent? This is a private forum, so free speech does not apply, and we have every right (and in some cases, obligation) to get rid of things we deem necessary or desirable to be removed.
The gist of my internal rule is that if a thread looks like it could foster an amusing, interesting, thought-provoking or useful discussion, it lives. If it can't manage to do any one of those things, it dies. Some people post here for the sole purpose of seeing how long a thread can live before it's culled. Those threads will be closed on sight, and if the poster keeps doing it, will be banned from the lounge, as I've had to do with a few people recently.

and besides if a locked thread has enough interest I have seen them unlocked (not to many times) you just have to ask nicely

No besson, I am not to blame for any of Rob's actions. None. Sorry.
you simply cannot shut up. You just have to keep it going and going and going and going.
Um, this is a internet forum, I don't have to shut up. You don't seem to do a good job of shutting up either. Actually, you post some of the most moronic things that mean nothing. But everyone just smiles at you, and lets you go on anyhow.
This is still not a satisfactory answer to me. What is verbal masturbation? My sense is different than what your sense is. Logically speaking, people aren't just posting nonsense for no particular reason, because it would be easier to simply write a post that looks like this:

This "silly thread" nonesense has been going on for years. People post these things to see how long they can get them standing till the mod deletes them.
You know how I hate posts filled with sloppy grammar mistakes that should have been corrected in grade school, but one of the reasons I stopped pointing out these flaws is because people (possibly you included) replied by saying "it's just the internet, as long as the person is able to convey meaning, who cares about the form?" The people running this forum will decide. Don't worry your little head about it.

His SUV threads? No, not to blame at all. I am not his SUV "arch enemy"
Or how about this one
http://forums.macnn.com/89/macnn-lounge/275019/pa-pippa-papa-pump-pum-spray/
Nope, nothing to do with me.
The fact Rob acted like this in MANY FORUMS before I even knew who he was says that's a load of crap.
No spin, stop trying to blame people for the actions of others. His silly threads have nothing to do with me.
But of course you are going to be able to show the class what threads you are referring to right?
It's bullcrap like this that gets annoying.

Ah the bait and switch game. You can't back up your earlier accusations, so you attack with more.
So let me get this straight Ω, I am supposed to read baseless accusations being said by you and besson, and not say a damned thing.
Ω, here is a hint, if you don't want me making posts like this, stop making baseless accusations about me.
I find it funny that the very same people that are constantly whining about me, are the very ones that can't seem to stop talking about me, or attacking me.
You'd think you guys would put two and two together.
Now watch, you'll reply to this one too, complaining about me replying to your post.
Heck, I am still waiting for you to show me what nonsense threads that Rob made, that I am responsible for.

Like Kevin is only talking to himself. If you'll notice, in most of these threads where you guys claim Kevin is filling the threads with nonsense there's someone else replying to them. Not that I think Kevin's posts are nonsense. He's simply determined.
Also, Kevin is simply a VERY wicked fast typist.

Baseless accusations? You have a raging hard-on for Rob. A simple search on your postings brings this history to light. Even this thread shows how Rob's name draws you like a moth to a flame. Fanboi.
The issue is that you feed him.
And where have I 'attacked' you in this thread? I did notice you implied besson is 'moronic'.

Wow, nice projection. Actually me and Rob used to talk all the time on IM. I have really no problem with Rob himself. Just the way he is acting right now. Do I think Rob needs perm banned? Of course not. He has admitted he was off his medication.

Show us that thread that I caused rob to post first.
Even this thread shows how Rob's name draws you like a moth to a flame. Fanboi.
Then I guess you have a hardon for me, and I am drawing you to this thread.
Stop being silly.

Nonesense, as he would do it if I was here or not. Because he has.

They simply can't see that more than half the thread Robs spazes out in, I really have little to do with.
Take the SUV crap, I just pick on him about it. But I am not the reason he posts those threads. Yet you don't see the Wonder Tiwns whining about the people he is posting them for.

So what your trying to say is remove all the food from the lion so it wont be the lions fault. Isn't easier to remove the Lion as there is much more food for him.

I do realize that you are under zero obligation to be consistent. This is the same argument I've directed towards Rob in informing him that he doesn't have some sort of right to post here. I realize this isn't a democracy, and I have no problems with that whatsoever. The only thing I'm confused over is why Rob's new nicknames aren't deleted immediately, but perhaps that is a whole other topic.
I was simply asking for rule clarification, but after a night's sleep I realized that it probably is nearly impossible to define something like this other than to say it is at the discretion of the mods. I'll try to make sure my future joke posts (if any) are amusing to a wider audience. I do realize that I'm inflicted with a strange sense of humor.

Here's a dose of truth for you Kevin: you *must* be right at any cost, you simply cannot back down. Whether this means acting passive-aggressive, pulling out the dictionary, pointing fingers, distracting people, pulling up links to other sites, whatever it takes.
It's fun to debate, but you carry some on and on and on and on and on that we all know will not have a conclusion. You and Rob could argue about SUVs for 25 pages. What would be accomplished?
JUST. STOP. TALKING.

besson again, I am not that big on the SUV thing. I don't know where you are getting this.
And I DID back down! I told him he won! But even after that he kept going on.
So why didn't you go off on him as well?
I take criticism pretty well. But when I see someone criticising someone, and at the same time, another person is doing the very same thing, could even be that very person and nothing is said.
That usually tells me it's not the action that is bothering that person. That is just an excuse for a chip on ones shoulder.
If I get your panties in such a knot, I suggest putting me on ignore.
It can't be that great for your health.

Kevin, let's face it: you continue fights, and you sometimes start them.
Anyway, this thread is done.
