One of the ad providers is causing random pop up ads on the forums. What weird is that they occur a minute or two after opening a page, not when it loads. The forums are the only thing I have open, so it has to be coming from here.

I used to keep the lounge open all the time, but now I have to keep it closed because of the ads. Oh, and the popup blockers don't work on the ads either.

Can you guys do something about this? (AGGGH! One just popped up while I was writing this!)

Are you on a Mac or PC?

Ive had it once, just last night and that was the first time. Its very annoying because on PC it pops up when your about to click something and u end up clicking it, and it tried to download spyware. I think its 10 sec delay from a hover over a ad.

Extremely annoying!

And it isn't the first time MacNN has served pop-ups. Seems to happen every year or so.

Doesn't anybody read the fine print when accepting offers for advertising?

The stuff gets stuck into the rotation by the ad provider (apparently without our explicit approval, though we've said in the past that we don't want popups). The popups aren't intentional, so post in here when you see one.

I'm not the one dealing with the ads, but I assume a description of which ad it is would help whoever is looking at this.

The pop-ups seem to have disappeared.

Thank you!

I have gotten several pop-ups this morning...

The first one was a set of two empty windows from:
http://209.190.18.194/redo3.html
http://209.190.18.194/redo4.html
These also have a javascript dialog that come up which says "Sorry your browser is not Win32 compatible" and an "OK" button. I'm worried these may be malicious...

Also got a pop-up from:
