It boggles my mind that someone actually reasoned out that users wouldn't mind turning their heads to read menu text. I've seen poor webdesign in my day, but never something as bizarre as this--meanwhile, they leave over 2/3s of the masthead empty with the generic OS X desktop pattern, where there is plenty of room for horizontal, readable menu text.
Fix that. Seriously.
Oh, and what's the point of a redundant button that leads to the current url, when the logo on the left already does this (which is arguably doubly redundant...)?

I somehow have no problems reading the text.

The first time I saw the redesign I had to literally turn my head to read what the sections are. It's needlessly arbitrary. With all the ads and little headlines crammed into the body, they choose THIS location to waste space? It's just...weird.
The submenu below it is perfect. Why did they not just do an iteration of that?
