Hi, I think it is highly ridiculous that you guys censor four letter words. It's not like people can't get around it by saying fsck instead of ****, or sh1t instead of ****. They now are forced to do this all the time; you can see it in many posts. There's profanity and worse things all over the internet, so it is highly childish and irrational to censor certain words that are deemed socially "unacceptable", even though every child in America knows them by the age of 7. And since when do 7 year old children read these forums anyways??? Doesn't the bloody membership agreement require everyone here to be 13 years of age and older? You can't possibly think you're accomplishing anything by restricting people's ability to express their thoughts to protect ... I don't even know who! Whoever it is knows what the word f|_|ck is.

Jeff ******* says (9:19 AM): Eww, Ottawa is gross. It's infested with politicians, and presently, 1 Harper as well.

No everyone uses profanity or chooses to see the words out there. they are not socially acceptable words. I for one think its a good thing.
btw its not censorship, you still have the ability to convey your idea just w/o those specific 4 letter words
Then of course is this quote which I believe is dead on for a lot of people who cannot help but drop the f-bomb.
"Profanity is the attempt of a feeble mind to express itself forcefully."

It's not your choice over what someone else can say. And you cannot use "social acceptability" as a defense because when someone curses, they are in no way hurting you, people should be allowed to express themselves however they see fit as long as it doesn't infringe upon your rights, and cursing is a constitutionally sanctioned activity.

It is censorship (by definition, look it up), but I do agree that people can express their ideas without using curse words.

I know many intelligent, strong-minded individuals that curse, and I also know many submissive people who have lost their individuality and just do as they are told, and so do not curse. Seriously, what kind of an argument for intelligence is that?? "I'm not going to curse because I'm 'strong-minded', and oh, btw, mainly because I was told it was a bad thing to do". Pffft.

nothing is constitutionally guaranteed here.
what you consider appropriate for all ages is obviously different than our point of view. but in this realm, ours is the one that counts.
