I would like to see all mods using the same rules on whether or not to lock/move a thread. In some forums, if a thread is misplaced, it is moved. In others it is locked.

The rules give the moderator the choice. Moving takes a lot more time to do than closing.

Basically, if you post in the wrong place (especially if it's clearly because no care was taken at all), your post is subject to deletion (very rare) or being closed. Being moved is a courtesy, nothing more.

Hey Tooki,

What about that dude that posted the thread to the lounge posting the links to the Mac BU pics? You timelined his ass and immediately locked the thread.

This was pretty rude of you, I'm somewhat disappointed. Would it have killed you to have politely explained that there already is a thread on this subject? This guy was only trying to share with us something that he found interesting. Why should he be treated rudely?

(The last thing we could ever have on this planet is an non-consolidated lounge thread! I won't go there though...).

Yes there is a rule that says you need to search for stuff before you post a thread, but it would be retarded if I made myself search on everything I feel like posting to the Lounge (the Lounge specifically), as it seems like an utter waste of time, not to mention completely anal to search for whether Tom Cruise wanting to eat his baby's placenta has been addressed in the many threads about him, for instance. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that people don't search before posting to the lounge, as well they shouldn't have to IMHO, as the lounge is not a technical resource.

The pendantic attitudes of so many people around here have made me come pretty close to leaving on more than one occasion. WDLove has already left because too many people can't f-ing chill out and lighten up a little bit.

I digress though, baby steps, my main point here is the rude nature of this particular thread lock.

It was posted the day before, the thread still listed on the front page of the lounge listing. The person who posted is also not a new member, but someone who should already know the ropes here.

Besides, "timeline" isn't rude, it's just short. Sheesh, lighten up!

That is just my point. The rules allows the mods (such as yourself) to do anything. I am saying it would be nice if there were a policy, whether it be locking, deleting (I'd prefer not), or moving. Being moved is a very common courtesy.

Why? What purpose would it serve to have a policy forcing moderators to always delete or lock a thread even when they have the time and inclination to move it?

Honestly: moving is a) a bigger hassle than closing, and b) encourages/condones misplacing threads.

Sorry.

You really need to get yourself in check first.
